On July 17, 2025, Engr. Valerie Agberagba, FNSE, was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Institute of Appraisers & Cost Engineers (IACE).
This honor acknowledges her remarkable career, spanning over 30 years of impactful contributions to the fields of cost engineering, valuation, and infrastructure development.
Engr. Agberagba is currently the General Manager of Generation Projects at NDPHC, but her influence extends far beyond this role. She’s a true leader who has held strategically important positions home and abroad, including Vice President of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), 3 term Vice President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), and President of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN). In these roles, she left indelible, impactful and and traceable achievements. Her dedication and commitments across broad spectrum of engineering community is well documented.
During the ceremony, Engr. Iwenofu, the national chairman of IACE, lauded her as both a mentor and a trailblazer, recognizing the path she has forged for others in the profession.
With deep humility, Engr. Agberagba, in turn, expressed her sincere gratitude and reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to fostering national growth through professional collaboration.
With this well-deserved fellowship, Engr. Agberagba joins an elite group of professionals dedicated to advancing excellence in cost engineering.
Engr. Agberagba’s academic journey began at St. Maria Goretti Girls Grammar School, Benin City, where she obtained her West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1981. She then proceeded to Federal Government Girls College, Benin City, for her Advanced Level education from 1982 to 1984.
Her undergraduate studies took her to the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, where she earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from 1984 to 1989. She also earned a postgraduate diploma in Business Administration from the University of Leicester, Leicester, UK, in 2011.
Engr. Agberagba’s professional career spans several organizations, including the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Presidential Task Force on Power, and Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
Her roles have been diverse, ranging from Project Staff and Head of Quality Control and Assurance to Senior Technical Adviser, General Manager of Renewable Energy, and General Manager of Generation Projects. These positions have not only honed her technical expertise but also developed her leadership and administrative skills.
Throughout her career, Engr. Agberagba has demonstrated a strong commitment to the engineering profession.
She is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). Her services to the profession include serving as Vice President of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, Vice President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Chair of the Committee for Women in Engineering at the Federation of African Engineering Organizations, and Past President of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN).
Engr. Agberagba’s contributions to the engineering profession have been recognized through numerous awards and honors. Some notable awards include the Award for initiating the African Women in Engineering Forum by the Federation of African Engineering Organizations, the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria Award “Pillar of Girl-Child STEM Education,” and the Nigerian Institution of Environmental Engineers “The Ambassador of the Environment Award,” among others.
Engr. Valerie Ifueko Agberagba is a trailblazer in the engineering profession, whose remarkable career serves as an inspiration to aspiring engineers, particularly women. Her dedication, expertise, and passion for the profession have earned her numerous accolades and recognition.
