New Registrant Checklist: Finalizing Your License
If your name appears on the approved list, follow these steps to secure your practicing license:
- Acceptance: Log into the and accept the congratulatory message. https://portal.coren.gov.ng/
- Fee Payment: Process the ₦68,000 registration/induction fee (note: fees vary for Craftsmen and Technicians).
- Payment Verification: If the status shows “Pending,” go to the , enter your RRR, and click verify until it displays “SUCCESSFUL.”
- Profile Activation: Once your status reaches 100% Complete, your COREN registration number (starting with R) will be generated and sent via email.
- Download License: Log in as a “PRACTITIONER” using your new R-number as the username and your existing password to download your e-license.
In accordance with the Engineers (Registration, Etc) (Amendment) Act, 2018, successful applicants will have their names entered into the Council’s Register and receive their certificates upon fulfilling mandatory financial conditions within 90 days of notification.
Failure to complete these requirements within the stipulated timeframe will void the current approval, requiring candidates to restart the registration process from the beginning.
COREN Approved Registration Fees
- Engineers: N68,000.00 (Sixty-Eight Thousand Naira Only)
- Engineering Technologists: N35,000.00 (Thirty-Five Thousand Naira Only)
- Engineering Technicians: N22,000.00 (Twenty-Two Thousand Naira Only)
- Engineering Craftsmen: N13,000.00 (Thirteen Thousand Naira Only)
Firm and Corporate Fees
- Sole Ownership Firm: N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira Only)
- Partnership Firm: N150,000 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira Only)
- Limited Liability Firm: N250,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira Only)
- Corporate Ownership: N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only)
Expatriate Provisional Registration
- Provisional Fee: $5,000 (Five Thousand Dollars Only) to cover registration costs and certificate issuance.
Next Steps for Newly Approved Practitioners
Newly approved engineering practitioners and firms must follow a strict digital workflow to finalize their certification:
Portal Access: Log into the official applicant portal to declare and accept the terms and conditions.
Fee Payment: Complete the full registration fee payment strictly through the COREN applicant portal.
Licensing and Documentation: Upon successful payment, practitioners will receive an email guide on how to access the portal, download, and print their official notification letter and valid license, which will contain their unique COREN Registration Number.
Uncertified practitioners are legally reminded that they cannot be entered into the official register or legally practice as an engineering practitioner or consulting firm until all conditions and payments are completely settled.
