Engr. Prof. Olumide Moses Ogundipe is an accomplished scholar with over 20 years of experience in academia. He is a Professor of Civil Engineering, specialising in Transportation/Highway Engineering.
He was awarded the Petroleum Technology Development Fund Scholarship in 2008 to undertake doctoral research on the Mechanical Behaviour of Stress-Absorbing Membrane Interlayers at the University of Nottingham, UK, where he obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering in 2012.
He earned his M.Eng. in 2006 from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State, and his B.Eng. with First Class Honours in 2001 from the University of Ado-Ekiti, now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.
He began his post-graduation career as a Mathematics teacher at Federal Government College, Sokoto, Sokoto State, during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme from January to December 2002. In 2003, he worked briefly as a Trainee Engineer at Delcon Engineering Company, Effurun, Warri, Delta State. Driven by his passion for academia, he joined the University of Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria, now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, as an Assistant Lecturer in 2004.
He rose through the ranks and was promoted to Professor of Civil Engineering, Transportation/Highway, with effect from 1st October 2019. He also served as a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Ilorin, Kwara State, from December 2019 to November 2020.
Prof. Ogundipe held several leadership positions at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. These include Dean, Faculty of Engineering; Head of Department; Member of the Board of Postgraduate Studies; Member of the Academic and Research Committee of the College of Postgraduate Studies; Chairman, Faculty of Engineering Postgraduate Committee; Member, Board of the Directorate of General Studies; Member, Board of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology; Member of the University Senate; and Member of the Appointments and Promotions Committee for Academic, Administrative and Technical Staff. He also served as an Examiner for the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Masters programmes.
He served as Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, on a pro bono basis, at the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti, Ekiti State, from April to December 2025. During this period, he coordinated the successful National Universities Commission (NUC) resource verification exercise for eight programmes in the Faculty.
He currently chairs the Road Projects Monitoring Committee and serves as a member of the Students Disciplinary Committee. He served as Director of Special Duties, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, before his appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Ogundipe has supervised postgraduate theses at the Postgraduate Diploma, Master of Engineering, and PhD levels in Civil Engineering. He has also served as an External and Internal Examiner for undergraduate, M.Eng, and PhD examinations at the following institutions: University of Ilorin, Ilorin; Federal University Oye-Ekiti; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; Federal University of Technology, Akure; Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin; Igbinedion University, Okada; Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa; Edo State University, Iyahmo, Edo State and Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. He is a reviewer for several local and international journals
His research centres on sustainable asphalt pavement technologies aimed at improving performance of road pavement and protecting the environment to support resilient and sustainable road infrastructure. He has authored over 100 publications in international and local journals, as well as in conference and workshop proceedings.
Prof Ogundipe has been involved in the assessment of candidates for the professorial cadre in different Universities in Nigeria, including Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Delta State University, Abraka, Landmark University, Omu-Aran and Achievers University, Owo.
He has taken part in International Conferences as a Speaker in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Greece, Poland, France, Ghana and Technical visits to Germany, Spain and Sweden. He has been a Speaker, Lead and Keynote Speaker and Facilitator in several Conferences and Workshops in Nigeria.
His influence and impact extend beyond academia. He is the Technical Advisor to the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute on the construction of the National Test Track and a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the same Institute. He is a member of the Ekiti State Road Stakeholders Forum.
Prof Ogundipe is a consummate professional. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) and the Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE). He was registered as a Civil Engineer by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria in 2008 and remains active to date. He has been actively involved in the activities of the Professional Societies as Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ado-Ekiti Branch (2018-2020) and Member of the National Executive Committee of the Society, representing the South-west from 2024-2025.
He served as the Chairman of the Innovation and Technopreneurship Committee, Vice Chairman of the Engineering Technology and Innovation Management Board, and Member of the Statutory Audit Committee during this period. He is currently the Chairman of the Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) Implementation Committee and a Member of the Collaboration and Linkages Board of the Society. He is also a member of several committees of NIHTE.
His goals remain mentoring young academics and fostering research and development through active collaboration with the industry towards having safe, resilient, and sustainable road pavement.
