.. as New leaders Emerge
The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Victoria Island Branch under leadership of Engr Rose Madaki has instituted an annual lecture in honour of the founder of the Branch, Engr Babagana Mohammed
Following the Public Lecture, registered members retreated for their Annual General Meeting (AGM) t the same venue where the elected new set of executives to pilot the affairs of the Branch in the next one and two years respectively.
Tagged “1st Distinguished Engr. Babagana Mohammed Lecture”, the keynote address was presented by Mrs. Elisabeth Essien, GM Facilities Management, Mobil Producing Nigeria, who delivered the first lecture in the series titled, “Workplace Productivity”.
The lecture which expounded on the design factors that enhance the productivity of the workforce in the workplace as it relates to “flow”, “space” and recreational facilities, was received with a rousing ovation.
The AGM started after the Public Lecture in the evening. At the end of the AGM, a new set of leaders were elected to run the affairs of the branch. The outgoing executives, led by Engr. Rose Madaki, transferred control to the newly elected led by Engr. John Audu.
The new Chairman, Engr. John Audu. is the Manager, Gas & Facilities Engineering and Major Capital Project Relations at Chevron Nigeria Limited, Lagos.

expressed grateful for “the overwhelming support that is clearly evident from my resounding victory during today’s election.” Saying that it is a call to serve and his team are ready.
“Our founding fathers coined up the slogan, “The branch that makes the difference”. Every Chairman since the inception of the branch has diligently worked towards setting the branch apart from all the others, but there has been no period in our history during which more was achieved in this regard than the past two years under the leadership of Engr. Rose Madaki.” He said.
Continuing he nted “Through dint of hard work and her unique leadership style, she steered the branch into uncharted territories. Through her rural development programmes, she empowered primary school pupils within our catchment area. She took vocational training for young graduates and their spouses to a whole new level. And, even more remarkable is the fact that she single-handedly got the branch registered as consultants with Total Plc. The list is endless with several other mind-blowing achievements that have truly set the branch on a pedestal befitting of its slogan.”
He premised his tenure programmes on two focuses: “Our tenure will be premised on two key imperatives: The first one is continuity. We shall consolidate and build on the gains of the outgoing EXCO. Secondly, we must critically think through and proffer engineering solutions to some of the fundamental issues bedeviling our society today.”
