The Chartered Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Nigeria (CIEEEN) is set to roll out its comprehensive Professional Certification Programme (CPC) to bridge competency gaps and ensure effective system management within the nation’s technology sector.

This was announced by the President of CIEEEN, Engr. Kings Adeyemi, while goodwill address at the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE) Distinguished Lecture event, in Lagos.

Addressing engineering gathering which comprises engineers and industry stakeholders, Engr. Adeyemi emphasized that managing modern technological frameworks demands rigorous competence.

He explained that the upcoming CIEEEN CPC programmes will feature specialized modules and a mandatory thesis designed to rigorously test and certify operational use cases. The regulatory initiative is being spearheaded in strategic partnership with NITGreen.

Engr. Adeyemi urged Nigerian engineers to step up their game to keep pace with rapid global innovations. He hinted at groundbreaking shifts expected by 2030, pointing toward the emergence of the “Internet of Minds” or the “Internet of Senses.”

He drew a vivid analogy, he noted a future where sensory experiences such as perceiving the aroma of a home-cooked meal could be digitally transmitted across distances.

“Technology is moving fast, and we also need to wake up and step up our game to be able to catch up with these advancements,” Engr. Adeyemi charged the audience.

The new certification drive is expected to officially kick off in the coming weeks, signaling a major step forward in professional standards and capacity building for electrical and electronics engineers in Nigeria.
