The Pipeline Professionals’ Association of Nigeria, PLAN, has announced that the 2026 conference, NIPITECS, will hold on November 17 and 18 at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja.

This year’s conference carries the theme “Financing the Future: Unlocking Capital for Resilient Pipeline Infrastructure in Nigeria,” a theme organisers say marks a deliberate shift in direction for the event. For ten years, NIPITECS has built its reputation around securing pipelines.

This time around, the conversation moves to how the industry can attract the capital needed to sustain and grow that infrastructure into the future. As the organisers put it, “10 Years of Securing Pipelines. Now Financing Their Future.”

The 2026 edition also comes at a symbolic moment for the Association, as it marks 10 years of NIPITECS as a conference and 20 years of PLAN as an association, a double milestone that organisers say will be reflected in the depth and quality of this year’s programme.

Where Engineering Meets Financing

Unlike many industry gatherings that spread themselves thin, NIPITECS positions itself as a practitioner led event where capital and technical expertise intersect. Organisers describe it as a platform where engineering meets financing, deliberately kept at a right sized scale of between 300 and 500 participants to allow for deep specialisation in pipeline infrastructure matters.

The focus, according to the Association, remains on real world insights rather than theory, drawing from the practical experience of those actually working in the sector.

A Packed Technical Programme

The conference will run an intensive technical programme covering financing innovation, resilient infrastructure systems, digital pipeline asset management, investment readiness, policy reforms and sustainable pipeline development. This will be broken down into four broad categories.

Under the Finance category, sessions will explore Public Private Partnership models for building long term robust pipeline systems, mechanisms for attracting institutional and foreign direct investment, as well as community trust funds and local equity financial models.

The Technical category will look at how digital asset lifecycle management can boost investor confidence, how carbon credit revenues can be unlocked for pipeline retrofits and maintenance, and the role of green and transition bonds in financing climate adaptive pipeline systems.

A Research and Development category will feature papers and discussions relevant to pipeline technology and financing, while the Policy and Regulatory Innovations category will address how to create a bankable environment for pipeline resilience, alongside insurance and guarantee mechanisms against financial and political shocks.

Call For Papers

PLAN has also thrown the conference open to researchers, engineers, policy experts and industry professionals through its call for papers, inviting field driven, peer reviewed technical papers relevant to the conference sub themes. Interested contributors are guided by the following deadlines: submission of abstract closes June 12, 2026, with notification of acceptance of abstract coming July 31, 2026. Full manuscripts are expected by August 30, 2026, while corrected full manuscripts are due September 20, 2026. Notification of acceptance of full manuscripts will follow on September 30, 2026.

As the organisers put it, “If you are shaping, financing, or securing Nigeria’s pipeline infrastructure, this is where you need to be.”

Who Should Attend

The two day event is designed for a broad spectrum of stakeholders in the pipeline and energy value chain. This includes pipeline operators, engineers and integrity managers, regulators, technical leaders, executives such as COOs and General Managers, players in the investment and financial sector, corporate strategy teams, early career professionals, academia and the media.

Beyond The Main Event

NIPITECS 2026 is not designed as a one off, two day affair. The Association has structured activities around the conference into three phases. Between May and October, a pre conference period will feature monthly webinars and executive roundtables to build momentum ahead of the main event.

The main event itself, holding November 17 and 18, will bring together the two day conference, an exhibition featuring technology and infrastructure solutions, and high level sessions. After the conference, PLAN plans stakeholder follow ups, reporting and continued engagement with participants and partners.

Core elements of the event will include field driven, peer reviewed technical papers, executive panels and workshops, an exhibition space for technology and infrastructure solutions, policy and investor roundtables, as well as networking and industry recognition opportunities.

Interested participants can register and complete payment securely online via Paystack through the official NIPITECS 2026 registration platform.

As the Association sums it up, “NIPITECS 2026 is where Nigeria’s pipeline future moves from security to scale, powered by capital, driven by collaboration, and executed by industry leaders.”
