Nimotalai Adebukola Muili, fondly called “Nimot” by all, is a registered engineer by Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
She has over 15 years of experience in civil / structural engineering design and supervision. She joined the Arup Lagos practice as a Project Engineer on January 05, 2009 and has steadily risen the ladder to become a member of the Executive Board Member (EBM) of the firm as an Associate Partner and the only and first female to join the EBM in the Lagos practice in over 60 years of her continuous existence and operation in Nigeria.
She has worked on many exciting multidisciplinary engineering including urban renewal, city planning and resilience, various private – public partnership contracting models and has cut her teeth in these terrains, thereby expanding her horizons in the process, within and outside the shores of Nigeria. Her experience includes over 7 years of specialized performance-based road delivery project in Liberia and on scheduled supervisory role in Ghana.
Nimot is one of the Arup champions for sustainable project design, supervision and implementation. She has undertaken assignments involving waste management and energy recovery from waste as a means of turning waste from an environmental problem to a valuable carbon neutral resource.
She is well grounded in:
- civil engineering design and supervision,
- technical, quality and environmental audit,
- application of the principles of energy efficiency and renewable energies in buildings
- Cities / Urban planning, development and renewal
- Programme and Project Management
- Contract Management and Administration
She has undergone several trainings on Environmental & Sustainability and contributes to environmental and safety policy formation and implementation. Also, she has vast working experience in advocating for vulnerable and disadvantaged communities and remains a strong advocate of bridging the gender gap in the STEM field. She leads the Arup Climate and Sustainability Portfolio and horn kills to grow the application of digital skills for the evaluation of project viability and impact assessment. She is the Arup’s Lagos Office Champion for “Sustainability is Everything” and UN SDGs”.
Nimot holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degrees in civil engineering (Structures Option) both from the prestigious University of Lagos, Nigeria. She has also undertaken physical and virtual courses in:

- Quality Management,
- Workplace Safety and Health,
- Contract Management,
- SMART Cities Development and
- Internet of Things (IoT).
She is also a Professional Evaluation and Certification Board (PECB) ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) Management System Lead Auditor and also a Project Management Professional (PMP).

She enjoys volunteering on projects that promote STEAM, Quality, Innovation and Prosperity for All. Nimot is an active agent of positive change to the youth and the environment, her interest in the education and training of youth towards sustainable development has led her to show significant interest and concern for the professional upliftment of young people and understandably the female, many of whom she has mentored.
She believes in acquiring knowledge and putting it to right use especially for the benefit of the vulnerable. She strongly believes “a candle loses nothing if used to light another, it only makes the pathway brighter”. Through promoting technical skill acquisition and championing sustainable development, Nimot contributes to environment conservation, quality and environmental management towards Global SDGs.
Outside her professional life, she enjoys family time, travelling, swimming, volunteering and attending cookware exhibition.
