The Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Port Harcourt Chapter is set to dedicate the 10th Beredugo Distinguished Annual Lecture to honour the legacies of Engr. Prof. Y.O. Beredugo Distinguished Annual Lecture.
The Lecture which is coming up on 9th November ,2021 will take place both physically and virtually (on zoom) an will hold at Engr Ishmael Banigo Secretariat, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Water works Yard, #3 Bernard Carr Street, Port Harcourt at 3,pm Nigerian Time.
The lecture theme, “The Legacy of Engr. Prof. Youpele Orukalama Beredugo in Civil Engineering Practice” will be delivered by Sir Professor So-ngo CliffordTeme (fnmgs, fnsme, fnaege) Ph.D Purdue(USA) Professor of Engineering Geology & Geotechnics.

About the Speaker
Sir Professor So-ngo CliffordTeme is very passionate about details and qualitative work. He leads personnel under his purview to develop the best potentials in life! He Presided over the Nigerian Mining & Geosciences Society (NMGS) – the umbrella body of ALL Geoscientists, Mining Engineers, Metallurgists, Petroleum Engineers, Hydro-geologists, Engineering geologists,Geophysicists and allied professionals in Nigeria. He is also, by virtue of being the President of NMGS, the Vice-Chairman of the Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers & Geoscientists (COMEG) and very particular about curbing the “Collapse-Building” syndrome in Nigeria through very detailed geotechnical sub-soil investigations and appropriate designs of Building foundations.
Amongst men he has mentored to positions of prominence in Nigeria are: Prof. A.E Edet, Dr. G. Otoko, Engr.(Dr.) Walter Otunyo, Dr. P. Youdeowei, Dr. A.E. Gobo, Dr. S. Ngah, Dr. O.D. Ngerebara, Dr. Nte (Uniport) to mention just a handful. His present pre-occupation is to take NMGS to much higher level during his tenure as President of the Society.
As a Member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA) for over 14 years now, he is desirous of seeing Nigeria build her own Space Satellites in addition to the existing four Satellites it has launched into space – SAT-1; SAT-2, SAT-2X and NIMCOMSAT. He believes, without wavering, that Nigeria has what it takes to join the League of the world frontiers in Science and Technology.
He received his B.Sc.(Hons) degree (Second Upper) in Geology at the University of Ibadan (1974); M.Sc.Applied degree in Engineering geology from McGill University, Montreal, Canada (1978) and the Ph.D degree in Engineering geology & Geotechnics from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA (1982). He belongs to over 15 National and International Professional Societies.
