ENGR. WURAOLA ATINUKE AGBAJE-OWOLABI (WAAO) STEPS DOWN FROM THE CHAIRMANSHIP RACE OF IFAKO-IJAIYE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA COUNCIL, LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA.
Foremost, I want to appreciate my creator, the Almighty God for giving me the privilege, enthusiasm and the courage to bestride the political terrain and be a voice to be reckoned with, a friend of the down trodden and pillar of support for the vulnerable in our society especially the aged, widows, physically challenged and the unemployed youth.
I want to express my deep appreciation to my political father, the National Leader of our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC), Jagaban of Borgu, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his confidence in me and assuring women of fair play in our theatre of politics.
I thank all our Leaders in Ifako-Ijaiye for their immense support, particularly our Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat. Immense gratitude also goes to my State Party Chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun for his great support and encouragement on this journey. Same also goes to the stakeholders, LG party leadership and my ward leaders.
I am proud to say that, within the short period of my entry into the Chairmanship race of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area Council, our team have been able to inspire and connect with the people who previously have no interest in politics nor the party. Our message of hope and a future assured resonated with them.
Our campaign was never a desperate one nor that of defamation or mudslinging BUT issue based, and in the interest of the people whom we want to represent-the masses and the party on whose platform I contested- APC.
Using technology, our campaign post insights today has reached 113,993 people virtually and 23,937 more engaged with us. The Statistical analyses of our audience are thus: Sex Distribution: -Men: 58.2% -Women: 41.8%. Age Distribution: -18-24: 7.3%; -25-34: 36.8%; -35-44: 27.1%; -45-54: 9.4%; -55-64: 4.9%; -65+: 14.9%.
There are quite an appreciable number of personalities especially the youth whom have not been involved in nor keen people about Nigeria politics till we had an encounter with them. We intend to make good use of this privilege for the greater good of our great party and our Local Government development.
The plights and the despairs of our people are the reasons why I choose to contest. We resonate with the people through our vision for a better life for all, irrespective of economic class, political affiliation, gender or other affiliate they belong to.
We brought renewed energy and vision as a reference to the political class.
However, for well-meaning political considerations, the need to maintain and instill discipline within the party, and following due consultation with my supporters and stakeholders in Ifako-Ijaiye, I hereby wish to redefine my approach to this position. I will be stepping down from the Chairmanship race of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government for mutually benefitting reason to all of us.
My decision to step down is borne out of respect for party supremacy and collective good of our great party.
More than anything that words can express, I want to specially thank the WAAO Team for the great job done within the short time of our campaign. Your effort has indeed, created positive and WAAO effects.
While I am stepping down from the race, I shall continue to serve the party diligently, selflessly and my loyalty to the party will even remain stronger. Our team’s contribution to the society to beget a better world for all will multiply.
I will further direct the WAAO Team to deploy personnel and resources at our disposal to support the emerging Chairmanship candidate of our party.
We appreciate all our supporters within and outside the shores of Nigeria, for their trust in our integrity and capacity to make Ifako-Ijaiye the model of governance in Local Government administration in Nigeria.
Once again, I appreciate all our elders, leaders and supporters for their supports and encouragements.
Thank you National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ifako-Ijaiye Chapter for bringing all aspirants together via your “Community Dialogue”. It was a show of love amongst the aspirants. I specially wish everyone of us the very best.
God bless our leaders,
God bless Ifako-Ijaiye,
