NSE Congratulates Elozino Olaniyan as First Female CEO of Midwestern Oil and Gas

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has extended its warm congratulations to Engr. Elozino Olaniyan, FNSE on her appointment as the first female Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Midwestern Oil and Gas. This landmark appointment, effective December 1, 2025, marks a significant achievement for both Olaniyan and the Nigerian energy sector, as she becomes the first woman to lead the company in its 26-year history.

In a congratulatory letter signed by the President of NSE, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, the Society commended Olaniyan for her remarkable leadership, her contributions to the energy industry, and her trailblazing role in opening doors for women in leadership positions within the oil and gas sector.

The President of NSE expressed the Society’s pride in Olaniyan’s achievement. She emphasized that this milestone is not just a personal success for Olaniyan but also a monumental moment for women in Engineering and leadership, particularly in sectors like oil and gas, where women have historically been underrepresented.

“Engr. Olaniyan’s appointment is a powerful testament to her excellence and determination. It breaks down barriers for women in leadership, especially in industries like energy, where there is still a gender gap,” said NSE President. “Her leadership will inspire future generations of Engineers, particularly young women, to aim high and pursue careers in fields where they are underrepresented.”

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) continues to advocate for the empowerment and advancement of women in Engineering and leadership roles across all sectors. The Society remains committed to creating opportunities that promote gender equality and the inclusion of women in traditionally male-dominated industries like oil and gas.

Engr. Elozino Olaniyan was recently appointed as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Midwestern Oil and Gas, effective December 1, 2025.

She is a distinguished Nigerian energy industry leader with over 30 years of experience in upstream operations, corporate strategy, stakeholder management, safety, and environmental sustainability. Engr. Elozino Olaniyan holds a B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Benin in Edo state.

A Shell alumnus, she holds numerous professional designations including FNSE (Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers), FNSChE (Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers), and FNISafetyE (Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Safety Engineers.

She previously served as an Integrator and in various C-Suite Roles at Shell Nigeria (Deepwater Portfolio) where she championed well optimization for Bonga reservoirs. She also managed hydrocarbon resource reporting and business planning for 5+ years.

From there, she moved to Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) serving as General Manager, Safety and Environment where she oversaw safety protocols; and represented Shell at events like the 2024 investiture of the first female NSE President, Margaret Aina Oguntala.

She moved to Renaissance Africa Energy Company Ltd. in 2024 where she led operational efficiency reforms and environmental sustainability initiatives, improving performance metrics as General Manager, Safety & Environment.

On November 16, 2025, Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited, a leading indigenous Nigerian exploration and production firm, announced Olaniyan’s historic appointment as the company’s first female CEO in its 26-year history.

In her statement, Olaniyan emphasized operational discipline, transparency, and sustainable growth, benefiting stakeholders. She aims to drive long-term value creation and amplify Midwestern’s role in Nigeria’s energy transition.
