The Nigerian Institution of Facilities Engineering and Management (NIFEngM) is a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) set up as an expert group to provide resource and facilitate national policies for the optimum performance of engineering facilities in Nigeria.

The body was established based on the conviction that national infrastructural development can only be sustained by entrenching a culture of efficient facilities engineering and management in our country.

In 2009 a National Committee was set up under the leadership of Engr Dr. S.A. Opaluwah with members such as Engr. Dr. MKO Balogun, Engr Dipo Mabogaje (as Secretary between 2009 and 2011 before he moved to COREN.) Engr Nathaniel Nwanjekwu (who took over from Mabogaje in 2011 and served meritoriously till 2017) during the Presidency of Engr Ademola Olorunfemi, the body was subsequently nurtured to become a Division of Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE.

NIFEngM as it is now known (by acronym) was approved at the Sunshine City of Akure during 2015 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Nigerian Society of Engineers, (NSE). Engr Samson A. Opaluwah, became pioneer National Chairman  while an election was conducted to elect other executive members across six geo-political zones (of Nigeria)  to run the affairs.
