Engineering is the life of our nation- COREN President

The President, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigerian, COREN, Engr Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, in his New year message to engineers, has declared that the impacts of COVID 19 pandemic have highlighted mankind resilience and made engineering even more relevant. He said that the engineering is the life of our nation and its light cannot be quenched.

“The challenges and uncertainties brought by COVID 19 in the past two years were unprecedented and devastating. The economic and social disruption by the pandemic led to the loss of many lives including our colleagues in the engineering family and our relatives.” Rabiu said.

“However joyful life may be, there is always a tempting hour; however bright the sky may be, there is always a dark spot. COVID 19 was our tempting our and our dark spot. However, we take solace in the saying that silver cannot shine except it passes through the fire and that the road to greatness is not marked by perfection, but the ability to constantly overcome adversity.”

He added that despite the challenges, “COVID 19 has also brought out the best in us.” He praised the roles of engineers and other professionals. In his words: “I am very proud of the accomplishments of the engineering profession and professionals under these difficult circumstances. We have demonstrated that engineering is the life of our nation. The engineering light will never quench.”

He also used the opportunity to express condolences to all those who lost loved ones during pandemic and wished the departed eternal rest.

“As we welcome the year 2022; it is my prayer that this year shall be the dawn of a new beginning for our families and the engineering profession. May the year usher in peace, love, joy, good health, and prosperity in our homes.” He concluded.
