The federal ministry of Power, Works and Housing has inaugurated a committee to look into a petition made by the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria, (ESVARBON) against the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, (COREN).
This is sequel to the petition written by ESVARBON to the ministry against , COREN’s Regulations for Engineering Appraisal/Valuation.
Subsequently, a Committee was constituted from Federal Ministry of Power, Works & Housing, FMPW&H to look into the issues raised in the petition. The Committee is to determine whether the COREN Regulations have any conflict in respect of who has the mandate for valuation work.
The President of COREN led a delegation to meet with the Committee from FMPW&H at the Council Chambers, COREN Headquarters by 12:00pm on the 22nd May, 2019.

The COREN team took time to educate the committee on the role of Engineers in Engineering Valuation and the need for the committee to look at the issues from the position of the law rather than individuals perception. A copy of the petition was served COREN whose response is being expected by Monday 27th May, 2019.
It will be recalled that the Estate Surveyors has, through their association, Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers has placed an advertorial in a national Daily accusing the engineers of dabbling into valuation of property and assets.
