Following the end tenure of highly successful tenure of Engr Dr Edith Alagbe, the Members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ota Branch, have elected Engr. Fabian Anyanwu led new Executive Committee to pilot the Branch’s affairs for the year 2025/2026 Engineering Year.
The newly elected leadership team consists of dedicated and committed individuals with mandate to further the goals of the society. They were elected following the Branch Annual General meeting at
Steering the branch as the elected Chairman is Engr. Fabian Anyanwu. Supporting him in the role of Vice Chairman is Ademuyiwa FAith Toty. For the position of General Secretary, Engr. MICHAEL FOLARANMI was elected with OZIOMA VIVIAN ONYECHI elected as the Assistant General Secretary.
The new technical Secretary of the branch is Aina Abiola, who will be assisted by Akanji ENIOLA, the elected Assistant Technical Secretary.
To Manage the financial affairs of the Branch for accountability, Engr. Fred Eigbokhan was elected as Treasurer, and Imarhiagbe Owomano Nosagieagbon, as the elected Financial Secretary.
Engr. Kehinde Adekunle Sunday was elected as Publicity Secretary. Others are two Ex-Officio members: Engr. Dr. Edith Alagbe and Engr. Adewale Adeyemi, who were elected to provide their expertise and support for the new administration.
In addition to the above, the Branch elected accountability and transparency within the branch are the elected auditors for 2025: Sherifat Oyelakin Oluwatoyin, Asukwo William Ita, and Ogochukwu Okoh.
The newly elected executive council is expected to continue the positive work of previous leaders and spearhead initiatives focused on engineering excellence, professional growth, and community involvement within the Ota area. The members of the NSE Ota Branch and the broader engineering community look forward to a successful year under their leadership.
Fabian Anyanwu possess 15yrs experience in construction and consumer industry. He has been part of Project planning, execution to completion. He previously served as the Branch’s Vice President. He is MD/CEO at First Gufak Nig Ltd, Agbara Ogun state.
In his acceptance speech, Engr. Fabian Anyanwu, expressed profound humility and gratitude for being trusted to lead the Branch. He acknowledged the confidence and responsbility placed in him by his esteemed colleagues and fellow engineers.
Engr. Fabian acknowledged the contributions of past chairmen, especially the outgoing Chairman, Engr Dr Edith Alagbe who have left indelible marks in the history of the Branch. He also spoke on the new responsibility and members expectations, stating that he is to build upon these legacies, strengthen unity, and tirelessly advance the engineering profession within the community and beyond.
Anyanwu outlined his vision focused on promoting professional excellence, impactful community service, and robust member engagement. He announced plans to prioritize capacity-building programs, expand mentorship opportunities for young engineers, and foster collaborations to enhance the branch’s relevance in national development.
He urged members to join him in this journey, saying that the collective wisdom, expertise, and shared commitment to ethical and innovative engineering would ensure the NSE Ota Chapter remains a “beacon of professionalism and service.” He expressed confidence that together, they would “write a new chapter of growth, influence, and excellence” in the branch’s history.
The NSE Ota Branch, inaugurated in 2015 under the Presidency of Engr Olorunfemi Ademola Isaac. It has been led by Engr Dr. Akin Adeoye as pioneer Chairman, Engr Friday Ifijeh Apeh (late) who was succeeded by Engr Adewale G, Adeyemi and followed by the immediate Past Chairman Engr Edith Alagbe, Ph.D (The first and only female Chairman).
