Engineering community mourns Another Great professional

The Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers have lost another member.

In a statement released by the immediate past Chairman of Kaduna Branch, Engr Dr Abdulrasheed Babalola, the late Engr Augustine Okolo, was one of the pillars of Kaduna branch and engineering practice in Nigeria as a whole. He was also a pioneer Chairman of NIMechE Kaduna Chapter.

Described as a gentle, brilliant and upright Mechanical Engineer, late Engr Okolo was also a former National Chairman of Automotive and Locomotive Engineers Institute and MD of PAN also headed many National and Branch standing committee. He delivered many free seminar lectures and training to young Engineers as well.

He was very committed to the development of young engineers and engaged many of them in career development while also absorbing many for Industrial Training, SIWES and NYSC to PAN where he was the General Manager until his death.

Babalola, a former NSE national executive eulosed him and recalled that the late engineer not only engage the young engineers sent to PAN but also trained many of them for free. . My prayer is for God to accept his good deed and grant the family the fortitude to be bear this irreparable loss.

Similarly, , the National Chairman of Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Engr Prof. Mohamed Baba Ndaliman has commiserated with the late Okolo family while also noticed that his exit is a big loss to the engineering community, especially mechanical engineering where he offered his services with passionate relish to the profession.

Augustine Ikebude Okolo FNSE is a seasoned professional with broad experience spamming from academia to industry.

A mechanical engineer of Delta state extraction, whose strong planning and problem solving skills had over the years steered a number of companies in Nigeria out of troubled economic waters.

He was until his death, the General Manager Operations PAN Nigeria Limited and among the other responsibilities directly in-charge of the assembly of Peugeot brand of vehicles in the Kaduna plant.

Engr. A. I. Okolo FNSE, was a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Automative Engineers Institute, Institute of Corporate Administration. He was a member of Society of Automotive Engineers Inc. USA.

Besides English Language, he was proficient in 2 other foreign language which are apart of the legacies of the exploits in the early years of his career. He had Master degrees in both Engineering and Business Administration.

Engr Augustine Ikebude Okolo was a past National Chairman of the Automotive and Locomotive Engineers Institute, a Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and distinguished himself in the automotive sector of the Nigerian Economy.

He was a field Representative of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International.

The engineering community indeed lost an icon, a silent achiever, a lover of engineering and a trusted professional. May his soul rest in peace.
