The Nigeria Energy Forum has released schedules for its eleventh annual conference, which is set to bring together energy professionals, government officials, and industry leaders in Lagos this June under the theme “Upscaling Value Addition for Sustainable Industrialization.”
This year’s gathering also include the fourth edition of the Tertiary Institutions Student Energy Challenge, TIEC4.0, which will see ten student finalist teams pitch energy innovations live before judges and compete for cash prizes.
The hybrid event will run across two main dates this year. The first gathering is taking place on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Marcelina Conference Centre along the Radisson Hotel in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, where attendees will participate either in person or online.
A second round of programming, made up of four virtual workshops, will follow later in the year on Thursday, November 19, 2026, hosted entirely on Zoom from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. West African Time. Organizers note that all times and sessions remain subject to change.
According to the programme schedules, registration for the Lagos event opens at 8:00 a.m., alongside the first poster session for TIEC4.0 after which there is Opening remarks, before the day moves into its opening plenary on powering industrial growth through value addition. The session, co-organized by Odu’a Investment Company, the Nigerian Independent System Operator, and the Rural Electrification Agency, will bring together a lineup of keynote speakers including NISO managing director Engr. Abdu Bello, All On chief executive Caroline Eboumbou, and Odu’a group managing director Abdulrahman Yinusa, among others addressing topics ranging from clean energy investment to critical minerals development.
By Midday there will be official launch of a new United Nations Economic Commission for Africa report titled “Lithium in Nigeria: Enhancing Sustainable Value Addition,” followed by the formal opening of the exhibition floor and a networking break.
The TIEC4.0 student energy challenge, sponsored by All On will follow. The competition attracted extraordinary level of participation this cycle, with 107 pitches submitted by more than 350 students from 36 tertiary institutions spread across 20 states.From that pool, ten finalist teams have been selected to pitch live before judges at the Lagos event.
Listed in alphabetical order by institution, the finalists are DP2P Energy Trading, AutaNet, and Lumaq, all from the Federal University of Technology, Minna; SUNPOD from Kwara State University; GridGuard AI from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology; The Solar Grafting Point from Nile University of Nigeria; AgroCool+ from Olabisi Onabanjo University; and Cassava PRO, VoltAL, and Cool Box, all from the University of Lagos.
These ten teams will present their prototypes during the early afternoon live pitch session, where they compete for a cash prize pool of 3 million naira for first place, 2 million naira for second, and 1.5 million naira for third, alongside an additional 500,000 naira award for the winner of a public vote.
The session will be judged by an independent panel of assessors drawn from All On, the African Climate Foundation, Heifer International, the Natural Resource Governance Institute, and Salpha Energy.
A second networking break will follow and thereafter, attention turns to a session on clean energy manufacturing and artificial intelligence investment, supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and several private partners. Speakers there include Hinckley Africa chief executive Adrian Clews and NASENI executive vice chairman Khalil Halilu, discussing themes such as e-waste recycling, green mineral exploration, and solar manufacturing capacity.
Following lunch, TIEC3.0 prize winners will be announced and awarded their cash awards.
The afternoon also includes a session on community development titled “Sparking Community Action for Development,” supported by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, MTN, and CITIBIM, featuring a fireside chat format on climate action, digital connectivity, and infrastructure investment.
The day closes with presentation of Decade of Impact awards, the formal launch of the upcoming African Energy Innovation Challenge for 2026, and closing remarks from the forum’s chair and co-chairs.
