Engr. professor Yetunde Aladeitan, PhD has been announced is the new National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Petroleum Engineers (NIPetE), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
This appointment is a testament to her decades of impact, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the growth of the energy profession in Nigeria. Her tenure is expected to inspire a new era of innovation, unity, rebuilding and progress across the industry as she follows in the footsteps of the institution’s esteemed founding fathers and past leaders.
Dr. Aladeitan is an accomplished engineer, educator, and ardent STEM advocate with a distinguished career spanning academia, industry, and professional leadership. She holds a B.Sc. Degree in Chemical Engineering from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2001), and a Master’s degree in Oil and Gas Engineering from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland. A distinguished scholar, she earned her Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, and is currently a postgraduate student of Engineering Management at the University of Hull, United Kingdom.
In her academic career, Dr. Aladeitan serves as an Associate Professor of Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering, a rank that marks a major milestone in her journey. Since joining the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Abuja in 2008, she has served as a senior lecturer and dedicated faculty member. Her academic influence further extends to her roles as a visiting lecturer at Baze University and AUST. Professionally, her experience includes a tenure at Amazon Energy Limited and her current roles as a Director at NOVASPIRE Energy and Klensfield Environmental Services Ltd.
Her impactful contributions to the field include over 15 research works published in high-impact journals, focusing on reservoir engineering, waterflood optimization, and carbon capture and storage—critical areas for advancing sustainable energy in Nigeria. A renowned speaker, she has presented at top industry conferences such as NIES and NOG. Beyond research, she is a vocal proponent of sustainable engineering, actively participating in international webinars to equip the next generation of engineers for a sustainable energy future.
Dr. Aladeitan is a Registered Engineer with COREN and holds prestigious Fellowships with both the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE). Her extensive leadership portfolio includes serving as the National Technical Secretary of APWEN, Chairman of the NSE Engineering Manpower and Occupation Committee, and Programs Chair 2 of the SPE Abuja Section. She is also the current Chairman of the Panel Session Committee for NAICE 2025 and chairs the Welfare Committee for the NSChE 2024 conference.
As she takes the helm of NIPetE, she joins a lineage of distinguished leaders who have founded the institution. The institution was built on the foundation laid by its founding fathers: Engr. Adeyemi Wilson MNSE (ExxonMobil), Engr. Andy Olotu MNSE (Schlumberger), Engr. Anthony Abolarin MNSE (TOTAL E&P), and Engr. Chief Vitus Ibeh FNSE. Dr. Aladeitan succeeds a line of National Chairmen including Engr. Adeyemi Wilson (1995–2003), Engr. Andy Olotu (2003–2009), Engr. Anthony Abolarin (2009–2017), and Engr. Chief Vitus Ibeh (2017–2022).
Throughout her career, Dr. Aladeitan has received numerous awards from NSE, SPE, NSChE, and APWEN. Outside of her professional life, she is a dedicated STEM advocate for young girls, an avid reader, and a swimmer. She is married to Prof. Olanrewaju Aladeitan, and they are blessed with two children.
