NIFEngM Congratulates NNPC Board, Pledges Support for Energy Sector Transformation

The Nigerian Institution of Facilities Engineering and Management (NIFEngM) has extended its congratulations to Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, FNSE and Engr. Ahmadu Musa kida, FNSE on their appointment as the new Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) Group Chief Executive Officer and Board Chairman, respectively.

This followed their appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu earlier on Wednesday.

According to a Press Statement by the National Chairman of the institution, Engr. Christopher Anierobi Egwuatu, FNSE, FNIFEngM , “This appointment is a significant step in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s transformation agenda for the energy sector,” adding that NIFEngM expresses its unwavering support for the President’s vision and Engr. Ojulari’s new role.

The NIFEngM  National Chairman recognizes “the crucial role that NNPC Limited plays as the hub of Facilities Engineering and Management in Nigeria. With its vast portfolio of critical infrastructure, including refineries, pipelines, and storage facilities, NNPC Limited is central to promoting and implementing best practices across the country’s energy landscape.”

“NIFEngM is particularly excited about the potential for advancements in key areas such as asset integrity management, maintenance optimization, energy efficiency and sustainability, and digital transformation under Engr. Ojulari’s leadership.” He said.

Continuing, Egwuatu said that “NIFEngM, as the foremost body for facilities engineering and management professionals in Nigeria, is committed to partnering with NNPC Limited under the leadership of the new management to actualize President Tinubu’s vision for a thriving and efficient energy sector.”

“Our members possess a wealth of expertise in facilities engineering and management, and we are eager to contribute our knowledge and support to drive positive change and growth for the benefit of the Nigerian economy and its citizens.”

“NIFEngM looks forward to a fruitful collaboration with Engr. Ojulari and NNPC Limited, confident that together, they can significantly transform Nigeria’s energy landscape,” he concluded.

It will be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently replaced the entire 11-Member board of the NNPC as part of the administration’s transformation of the sector “into a more commercially driven and transparent entity.”

Aside from the new GCEO and Non-Executive Chairman, Engr. Bayo Ojulari and Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, other members are: Bello Rabiu representing the north-west, Yusuf Usman from the north-east, and Babs Omotowa, a former managing director of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), for the north-central; Austin Avuru for the south-south, David Ige for the south-west, and Henry Obih for the south-east; Lydia Shehu Jafiya, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, and Aminu Said Ahmed of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources will represent their respective ministries on the new board.
