Complementing his military achievements, Dr. Deji Ayoade is a trained veterinary surgeon, combat medic, and Nuclear Weapon System Subject Matter Expert (SME), further establishing his diverse skill set.
Deji Ayoade also serves as a Senior Program Analyst and is a civilian member of the U.S. Space Force, working within the Department of Defense at the Pentagon.
However, Dr. Ayoade’s path to success was not easy. Growing up in poverty and facing early life hardships, he turned to storytelling as a means of coping with loss and finding hope. Through writing, he has found a way to inspire others and share the lessons he’s learned from his unique experiences.
Ramon “‘Deji” Ayoade released his debut book, a memoir titled “Underground: A Memoir of Hope, Faith, and the American Dream.” The book chronicles his journey from poverty in Lagos to becoming the first African immigrant to serve in three branches of the U.S. military, including becoming a nuclear missile operator in the Air Force.
The memoir details his difficult childhood, his education in Nigeria and the US, and his decision to join the US military. Ayoade’s motivation stemmed from a desire to contribute to his new country and a personal drive to serve humanity. He began writing the book while serving as a nuclear missile operator.
