In order to compete and be among the best globally, Nigerian Engineers have been enjoined to run with the vision of the new rebirth of governance as contained in the Margaret Oguntala Presidential Strategic Agenda (MOPSA) of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

The Managing Partner at the Dynamic Initiative Limited, Engr. Akintayo Akintola, gave encouragement at a Webinar organized by the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ota Branch on Saturday.

Akintola spoke on the topic: “Re-imaging Governance for the Future: The Role of International Relations and Community Impact.”

MOPSA, he said, rests on five pillars that focuses on membership development; partnership with intergovernmental bodies, industries and academia; collaboration through international relations, aimed to strengthen global ties; community impacts; as well as NSE Re-imaging itself to be the voice of engineers.

For the agenda to work, Akintola submitted that there was the need for collective engagement, which, he noted would up-skilled individual members and have ripple effect on the branches, the states and the national body of the society.

“This is premised on the society’s obligation to equip members with requisite knowledge and skills to meet the evolving needs of the 21st Century engineering landscape across the various disciplines, focusing on training opportunities, entrepreneurship and secretariat support as enablers for development,” he said.

Akintola stated further that the strategic priorities would strengthen the NSE and enabled it to empower its members, create opportunities and position them as a formidable force for engineering progress in Nigeria and on the global stage.

The branch chairperson, Engr. Dr. Edith Alagbe, noted that engineers have increasingly vital role in shaping the future of governance and international cooperation in the rapidly evolving world and enjoined the participants to explore their expertise to help forge more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities globally.

“Your work impact the very fabric of society, and understanding how international relations intersect with community needs is essential for addressing the challenges of tomorrow,” she stated.
