Registration: COREN warns Engineers against patronising Fraudulent Agents; Announces Date for Next Exam

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, has warned Prospective Engineers and technologists to avoid patronising Fraudulent Agents posing as COREN Agents, writes, isqil najim

This was contained in a memo signed by the Registrar of the Council, Prof Ademola Adisa Bello.

According to the statement, “COREN has observed with dismay that, some unscrupulous people presenting themselves as COREN Agents are committing nefarious act of unprofessionalism in the COREN registration process.”

He warned that COREN does not have or appoint any Agent(s) to act on its behalf.  He said  that the general Public “especially intending COREN registrants to note that, COREN does not have and has not appointed any agent(s) to act on its behalf in this regard.

” Any person or group of persons that deal with these individuals, or groups does so at his/her own risk.” He said

He added that “all intending registrants are liable to any documents/information provided for registration”.

The Council also warned those involved in the nefarious activities to desists from taking advantage of intending registrants. “By this notice, such self-acclaimed Agent(s) are warned to desist from this act as appropriate Legal action will be applied to anyone caught.”

It must be noted that COREN is the constitutionally recognised body set up for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. Engineers who intend to practice are to register with the Council. All registrations are online and can be found at www.coren.gov.ng

There are two categories of Engineering registrations, Personnel and firms. The Personal compromises Engineers, Technologist, Technicians and Craftsmen. Whole the firms categories cover consulting, manufacturing and others categories.

Meanwhile, the Council has announced date for second quarter Professional Examination   for all qualified registrants. The scheduled exam will hold between Monday 6th – Thursday 9th May, 2024 in Abuja.

Interested Engineers, Technologists or technicians can begin preparation for the exam. All registration activities including payment is on COREN official website at www.coren.gov.ng
