Born to the family of Late Pa Mathew Adebayo and Mrs. Felicia Arinola Adebayo in the middle of sixty, ENgr Joseph Sunday Adebayo  started his Engineering career in October, 1990 when he was admitted into Kwara State Polytechnics, Ilorin, to study electrical and electronic engineering and later in to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State where he bagged Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1999.

He was posited to Ekiti State for the compulsory National Youth Service Corp. His place of primary assignment was National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), District Office, Ado-Ekiti.

He got his first employment as a Safety Electrical Engineer at Boab Nigeria Limited (Lighting Eliminators & Construction Engineering the then Sole Representative in Oil & Gas industries of LEC, Colorado, USA in Nigeria) in January, 2001 to December, 2004.

Work with the company took him to many places where installation of LEC-DAS lightning protection system were carried for oil and gas industries and telecommunication industries. These includes ExxonMobil, Shell, ChevronTexaco, NNPC and its Subsidiaries at off-shores and on-shore locations and some NEPA locations.

He also worked as a Project Engineers with West of Mines Limited (Miners, Engineers, and Consultants & General Merchants Providing Consultancy Services to Baob Nigeria, from January, 2005 to September, 2008.

He is currently with Electrical Unit, Works Department, University of Ilorin, employed as a Senior Electrical Engineer in October, 2008 has risen to the position of Chief Electrical Engineer in 2016. He has played prominent roles in the facilities maintenance for the University and her developmental projects. He has headed the Unit at different times since October, 2008 to date.


At NSE Ilorin Branch which he joined in year 2000, he has been involved actively in the activities at both the Branch and National. he became a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in November, 2004 with membership number 15,084 and have been serving the Branch Executives Council in various capacities – Asst. Gen. Sec., Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-Chairman and Chairman all for two years duration.

He has also served as a Committees and Sub-committees Chairman, members and Harmony 2012 LOC Treasurer, Committee and Sub-Committee member for the National Conference and Annual General Meeting – Harmony, 2012. Chairman, Vice-Chairman and member of The Branch Executive Committees since 2005 till date. He has been serving the Branch and the National for many years as Associate Examiner (Electrical/Electronics), Exam Supervisor and Marker. NSE Council member from 2016 to 2018, Committee and Sub-Committee Member of Examination Committee. A Past Chairman, NSE Ilorin Branch and Fellow of the Society.

He became a COREN registered Engineers in 2005 with registration number 12,261 and has served as COREN Accreditor and Examiner.

A member of The Nigerian Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers with registration number 02446. He has been serving the Institute both at the Chapter and National level in various capacities (Past Chapter Chairman and Past Electoral Committee Chairman) and member of the National Executive Committee Member of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering as co-opted Ex-Officer . He is a Fellow of the Institute.
