Former Governor of Ogun, Gbenga Daniel to present 2023 Mechanical Engineering Distinguished Lecture

A former Governor of Ogun State, and now a Senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Otunba (Engr) Gbenga Daniel is set to deliver the 2023 Mechanical Engineering Distinguished Lecture,  MEDL in Lagos.

The event is scheduled to hold on Monday, 20th November, 2023 at Rodisson Blu Hotel, Isaac John, Ikeja, Lagos.. And starting  from 11:00am.

The Honourable Minister of Solid Mineral, Hon Henry Dele Alake is the Special guess of Honoyr, while Sen Engr Patrick Ndubueze, is the Guest of Honour. The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE Engr Tasiu Saad Gidari Wudil is billed to chair the event.

Mechanical Engineering Distinguished Lecture, MEDL, is one of the highly anticipated Annul Programme organised by the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, NIMechE National. It avail accomplished Engineers opportunity to share their professional experience in policy, management and the industry with their colleagues while exploring critical challenges facing the society in a bid to advance solutions. The event is a convergence point, networking for policy makers, engineers and captains of industry.

Daniel, a Fellow of Nigerian Academy of Engineering, Nigerian Society of Engineers and Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers is Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District.

His Excellency,  is an Engineer, a Technocrat and a staunch Nationalist. He joined an Engineering firm; H.F. Schroeder (W.A.) Limited in his early years an rose to the level of the Deputy Managing Director thus becoming the first African to occupy such position. He left Schroeder and founded Kresta Laurel Limited (KLL) an Electro-mechanical Engineering company that specializes in elevators, overhead travelling cranes and hoists. He is also the Founder of Conference Hotels (CH) a first class brand in the hospitality industry and he is on the board of several companies.

Otunba Daniel attended Baptist Boys High School (BBHS) and later proceeded first to the School of Basic Studies at The Polytechnic Ibadan for his Advanced Level and thereafter got admitted into the School of Engineering, University of Lagos and graduated with flying colours as an Engineer. He holds the Master of Business Administration degree (MBA).

He was declared Mastermind of the Year 1975 in an NTA Quiz programme as a 19 year old under-graduate at the University of Lagos and the best Student in Mechanical Engineering in 1979.

According to several testimonies on records, his administration remain a reference point in the history of the Gateway State as he left his footprints in the annals of the nooks and crannies of the State

An accomplished Businessman with the rare traits for recording success, Otunba Daniel is a holder of the Zik Leadership Award among other high-class awards bestowed on him by several top-rated Institutions and Organizations.

Sen. Daniel will be exploring his professional journey and experiences to address the theme: “ENGINEERING, PANACEA FOR DEVELOPMENT AND MASSIVE EMPLOYMENT GENERATION IN NIGERIA.”
