On April 17th, 2023, Summit University, Offa welcomed a distinguished guest to its Innovation and Advanced Science Research Group (IASRG). Mr. Abiola Oladipo, the MD/CEO of Tiwakiki Limited, a Manchester-based company and an industry-based researcher, visited to network with partnering institutions. He collaborated with these institutions to win a research grant on the Remarkable project, which is worth 1.3 million Euros and funded by the EU.
The Remarkable project aims to implement Internet of Things (IoT) technology, drone surveillance for farm and soil quality inspection, Precision Agriculture, and staff exchange among the partnering institutions. This project involves 18 higher institutions around the world.
During his welcome address, Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer, provided an overview of Summit University as a fast-growing research-intensive institution. Since 2022, the university has submitted and won multiple research grants, including the Artificial Intelligence for Females in STEM (AI4FS) project, which is sponsored by the Royal Academy of Engineering in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Oladipo commended Summit University for including females in its research projects and expressed his interest in further collaboration with the institution. He is keen to explore research collaboration opportunities, drone technology to improve farm yield, visiting lecturer opportunities, and capacity development for students and staff at Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria.rehabilitation but that the paucity of funds and the bureaucratic processes
involved were some of the encumbrances. He however mentioned some of
the efforts he was putting in.

CLOSING REMARK: With permission from the Chairman, Engr.
Terseer Kasso started by saying the Department was the raw material that
was needed in sustaining the Chapter. He said the Chapter during her period
of Industrial visits had secured some places of Industrial attachment such as
at Mikap Nigeria Limited, Auto360, Oracle Plastics, Goshen water amongst
others for the students. He encouraged the Department to leverage on this
and he also encouraged the Department to delegate at least one Lecturer who
would serve as a student adviser so as to guide the Students. He urged
Lecturers to always create out time to attend NIMechE functions as their
presence would also serve as some form of motivation to the student
members. He said the Chapter was open to collaborations with the
Department and offered to hold the next General Meeting of the Chapter in
the Department.

VOTE OF THANKS: The HOD, Engr. Prof. A. Kuhe thanked all
members for the wonderful deliberations and promised to discuss with his
team about the issues raised. He however promised to come up with a
student adviser, write to key players for student placement on Industrial
training, called on the Chapter to make such visits a routine visit, and to help
organize Career Guidance Talk and Seminars for the Students. He concluded
by saying the Department was also open to collaborations with the Chapter
and said he was expecting the Chapter to hold her next Meeting in the
Department as suggested.
