Engr Ali Alimasuya Ali FNSE, FAEng, the President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigerian, COREN has been awarded the national honour in the rank of “Commander of the Order of Niger”, CON, by President Mohammadu Buhari.
The letter conveying the approval of the President was signed by Senator George Akume, the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Government Affairs, states that the conferment ceremony for the award is fixed for Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
Ali, who presided over the highest engineering regulatory body in Nigeria is a COREN Rgistered Engineer and a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers , a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering and a Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM).
Born on 24th April 1963 in Lafia, Nasarawa State, he attended Bayero University in Kano State from where he obtained a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master in Business Administration (MBA).
Engr. Rabiu has a robust professional career in engineering spanning over 35 years where he has served in various administrative and managerial capacities in the public and private sectors, some of which are; the Executive Partner, AR – AR Partnership, Consulting Engineering Firm, (1990 – Date); Project Coordinator, Bayelsa State Infrastructural Development Programme, (1997 – 1998); Project Manager, Hotoro South Erosion Control Project, Kano State,(2001 – 2002); Project Manager, Oforachi Irrigation Project, Kogi State, (2003 – 2005); Project Manager, World Bank – Assisted Nasarawa State Community Based Urban Development Project, Karu, (2004 – 2006); Project Director, Nasarawa State Massive Programme on Road Construction, (2008 – 2011); Project Manager, Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP 2) Adamawa State (2005 – 2019) to mention but a few.
He has been involved in some adhoc responsibilities including: Member, Presidential Monitoring Team on DFRRI Rural Water and Sanitation Programme, Sokoto and Kebbi States; Consultant/Member, House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on the investigation of flooding of the Goronyo Dam, Sokoto State; Member, Governing Council, Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, Kano State; Chairman, Technical Committee to assess the damages/loses caused by Fire outbreak at Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi Market, Kano State; Member, NASENI Governing Board (2019 – Date).
For his many contributions to the Community and his novel works in his home State Nasarawa, he was honoured with the traditional title of Cigarin Lafia in 2009. He is a recipient of various professional awards and recognitions. He is a former Vice President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE.
