I have tried to remove this from my mind but it kept reoccurring. I am bittered and I am completely disappointed by that ungodly action to Firefighters and fire trucks.
I totally condemned the most recent attack of Anambra Firefighters at Aguleri Junction and also the attack to firefighters all over the world. Every now and then Firemen are being attacked and their fire trucks vandalized. Why must we make firefighters scapegoats for fire outbreaks which they did not cause. Firefighters are only doing their best against all odds. Firefighters should be appreciated not attacked. The public do not care of the Truman they are causing to Firefighters and the pyschological effects of this evil deeds to firefighters.
After attacking them, you will still cry for their assistance to extinguish the same fire outbreak. It is ungodly that we attack harmless and toothless people and forget that these firefighters are humans and they are people CHILDREN, SONS, DAUGHTERS, WIVES and HUSBANDS who may be related to us.
We Firefighters have been crying for help and the public are not listen to this cry. If we harden our hearts and start retaliating, it will be disasterous and it will become a breaking news.
It is not that we do not know what to do to retaliate this evil action but we have continued to hold ourselves because of humanity and because Fire Service is to the core humanitarian.
The public has no justification whatever to lay their hands on fire trucks and Firefighters who are coming to assist them because of the humanitarian nature of the job. Firefighters are never the cause of the fire but they are coming to discharge their duties to help in saving lives and properties of the public who caused the fire outbreak.
PRAYER:
We (Firefighters) are calling on the Government, Political Appointees, Religious Leaders, Ndi Igwe (Traditional Rulers), President Generals, Youth Leaders, Security Agencies, NGOs, CBOs, Media Professionals etc to help to address this ugly situation before it gets out of control because firefighters may decide to retaliate this, in their our own little way which may be more disasterous to the public.
