The Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers is all but set to host dignitaries cutting across the broad sector of engineering and corporate world as it marks the 25th Anniversary of its establishment.
The weeklong Event, which is billed to commence on Thursday, April 5, 2018 will be declared opened with a Press Conference on Thursday and a courtesy visit to Olu of Agege Palace later in the day. The Branch will then hold its April General Meeting at Olu Awoyinfa Hall, of Ralph Alabi Engineering Centre, located on Plot 32, Oba Ogunji Road, beside Forte Oil Filling Station (formerly AP filling Station) via pen Cinema.
On Friday 6th April 2018, the Branch scheduled humanitarian visit to Orphanage at 10.00 am . Jumah Prayer will hold at Oluwole Central Mosques Ogba at 1 p.m. while indoor games competition would follow at the secretariat from 4 p.m..
On Saturday, 7th April 2018, there will be Charity Walk to raise awareness in the community: Starting from the Secretariat at 10. A.m. Participants are expected to join the team at the secretariat. Thereafter, the Branch will organise a family picnic and get-together at the Secretariat starting from 12 noon.
On Sunday, 8th April 2018, the Christ the Chapel of Light Alausa Ikeja will host Church service from 10.00 am.
Monday 9th, April 2018 will herald the arrival and reception of the NSE President, Engr. Adekunle Mokuolu and his entourage. This will be followed with Courtesy Visit to Oba of Lagos. A competition among secondary school is put together at 1 p.m. at the Secretariat.
Tuesday 10 April, the Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is expected to host Ikeja Branch at Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja. The NSE President will lead the engineering delegation. At 2. p.m, there will be anniversary Symposium, Engineering Forum at the secretariat.
On Wednesday, 11 April the Branch will hold its Anniversary lecture and launch its History Book at 10.00 a.m. Silver Jubilee Luncheon and Award will follow in the event at Sheraton Hotel and Tower, Ikeja to round off the historic celebration.
Dubbed, the Branch to beat, the Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers was first conceived in July 1992, when a handful of engineers, led by late Engr Olu Awoyinfa working and residing in Ikeja and its environs met to considered the formation of a second Branch in Lagos State to carter for the their professional and social needs.
The Branch was subsequently approved by the NSE Council and and admitted as the 32nd Branch of NSE in 1993.
Since its establishment, the Branch has produced illustrious leaders, change makers, and built a strong family bond among its members. and continues to grow and wax stronger.
The Branch has won the coveted Annual group Dynamic Competition of NSE three times and came 2nd on a number of occasions. It has also successfully hosted NSE AGM and International Conference and set the path for innovation.
