Governor Mbah Names Immediate past NSE Abuja Chairman, Five Others as New Commissioners”

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has approved the nomination of Engr. Benjamin Osy Okoh, FNSE,  Immediate Past  Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Abuja Branch, and five other individuals as commissioners. Their names have been forwarded to the Enugu State House of Assembly for confirmation.

This was contained in a public service announcement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Chidiebere Onyia, on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

According to the statement, the commissioner‑nominees are: Benjamin Osita Okoh, Benedeth Ekwutosi Okoli, Eyinna Franklin Ogbonna, Samuel Ogbu‑Nwobodo, George Ugwu, and Ben Collins Ndu Jr.

“The names have been transmitted to the Enugu State House of Assembly for confirmation,” Onyia said.

The governor has also approved the appointment of Godwin Anigbo, as the Head of Service of Enugu State. “This appointment takes effect immediately,” the statement added.

The appointments are said to be part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to strengthen his administration and drive effective governance across the state.

Engr. Benjamin Osita Okoh, known as Ben Osy Okoh, is the Immediate Past Chairman of Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE Abuja Branch. and the Managing Director/CEO of FieldMarshal Integrated Engineering Concept Limited. He completed his primary and secondary education in Enugu. He then studied Civil Engineering at Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu, graduating in 2004 with Second Class Honours Upper Division.

After briefly working as an Engineer Trainee, Engr. Okoh began his engineering career in 2006 at Bulet International Nig. Ltd., supervising projects like the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters Abuja.

In 2009, he joined FieldMarshal Integrated Engineering Concept Limited. He has designed over 100 buildings across Nigeria. Significant projects he has designed include the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Abuja, the Democratic Republic of Congo Embassy, Abuja, and Gee Hotel Owerri, which has six suspended floors and a swimming pool. He also designed the Bingham University Teaching Hospital Hotels in Jos and the Lafia Square Nasarawa State.

Engr. Okoh is committed to the engineering profession. He joined the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) as a student member in 2002 and has referred many engineers to the society. His professional membership comprises: thee Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE), the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE), the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE). He is also a Registered Engineer (R.Eng) by COREN.

He has held various leadership positions, including Chairman NSE Abuja Branch, where he left indelible marks in the Branch history; Chairman NICE Abuja Chapter, where he started free weekend lectures. As Technical Secretary for NSE Abuja Branch, he organized technical visits and presentations. He served as Publicity Secretary for NSE Abuja Branch, improving its standing. He was Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers Abuja Chapter from 2016 to 2018, and also Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers Abuja Branch. As Chairman of NICE Abuja Chapter, he launched a website and organized conferences.

Engr. Okoh has received many awards for his service, including multiple Chairman’s Merit Awards from the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Abuja Branch, and Distinguished Service Awards from the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Abuja Chapter. Beyond engineering, he is a writer whose works have been published and read on radio. He has also trained over 1500 engineers in Computer-Aided Designs. His dedication to engineering and community service is clear.
