On January 24th 2024, the J.F Ade Ajayi Auditorium will host experts across board at the University of Lagos’s Inaugural Lecture, to be presented by former head of Dpartment, Prof Efe Ikponmwoa titled: Concrete , A Friend or Foe? The Choice is Ours!
The Event which will start at 4pm will be chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Folashade Ogunsola.
The topic is coming at the right time where the nation has been embroiled in debate relating to concrete materials in the last few months.
Concrete is a composite material composed of aggregate bonded together with a fluid cement that cures over time. Concrete is the second-most-used substance in the world after water, and is the most widely used building material. Despite this, concrete still stir many debates from road construction to building industries. Prof Ikponmwosa will be attempting to dig deeper and shed more lights by tapping into his decades experiences and research.
Efe Ewan Ikponmwosa is a Professor of Civil Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos, Nigeria. He teaches Civil/structural Engineering courses at both Undergraduate and Post Graduate and also manage and produce Doctoral Candidates. He has accumulated more than 22 years experience in Teaching (lecturing) and Research.
His areas of research concentrated on civil Engineering construction materials and Structures. This also include waste management through conversion to innovative construction materials. He has developed passion for Engineering Education related matters.
