The University of Lagos UNILAG Alumni Association joins family, friends and associates to congratulate the newly appointed Rector of yaba College of Technology, Engr Dr Ibraheem Abdul and wish the erudite scholar a fulfilled tenure.
According to press release by National Publicity Secretary of the Association, Funmi Falobi, the appointment Dr. Abdul Ibraheem Adedotun call for celebration as he has made the Association proud as a distinguished Akokite.
Dr. Adedotun, a Chief Lecturer who was erstwhile the Director, Centre for Open, Distance and Flexible e-Learning, Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH, Lagos has been appointed by the Federal Government as the substantive Rector of the YABATECH, Nigeria’s renowned citadel of learning.
The appointment of Dr. Adedotun, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering, University of Lagos, takes immediate effect.
Dr. Abdul, who joined the service of Yaba College of Technology in 1993 as Lecturer 2 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department, School of Civil Engineering and Natural Resources. He was also a former Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, in addition to serving as Chairman and member of important and strategic management and academic board committees.
He attended the University of Lagos for his B. Sc and M.Sc Mechanical Engineering in 1987 and 1996 respectively and later attended the University of Ibadan (UI) for his M.Sc in Industrial & Production Engineering in 2004, after which he got a Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering) from Okayama University, Okayama, Japan in 2011.
He is a member of several professional bodies and associations: Fellow, the Global Academic of Entrepreneurship and Innovation; a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineer(IEEE); a Registered Member of the Council of Registered Engineers in Nigeria(COREN) and Corporate member, Nigerian Society of Engineers(NSE), among others.
