On Thursday, February 9, 2023, the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, NICE Ogun Chapter will unveil it First Female Chairman, Engr Dr Grace Modupeola Amusan at a ceremony to be held at NSE Secretariat, Bolu Oyebolu Engineering Centre, Opposite Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abiola Way, Abeokuta, Ogun State, by 11am.
The event which will be Chaired by the National Chairman of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE), Engr. Virgilus Chukwudi Ezugu, will address the theme, “Infrastructure Planing and Design in a fast Changing World: Projection for Nigerian Engineers.”
A Former Director Academic Planing Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso, Engr. Prof. Adedayo Adegbola, is expected to deliver the inauguration lecture titled Infrastructure Planing and Design in a fast Changing World: Projection for Nigerian Engineers while the Vice Chancellor Bells University of Technology Ota, Engr. Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran will deliver the keynote address.
Also expected at the event, are NSE Abeokuta Branch Chairman, Engr. Ismail Adenuga and Federal Road Maintenance FRME Chief Engineer, Engr. Atoyebi Abiosun as guests of honour while Engr. Fatai Majolagbe is the Chief Host.
Other eminent personalities expected to grace the event are, the Wife of the Vice Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Prof. Anotu Deji -Agboola, Federal Controller of Works Ogun State Engr. Mrs Forosola Oloyede, Engr. Dr. Ahmed Apampa, and Executive Director Planing and Design Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA), Engr. Hon. Adewale Adeoye, .

BRIEF CITATION OF ENGR. DR. GRACE MODUPEOLA AMUSAN, FNICE
Engr. Dr. Grace Modupeola Amusan was born in Ila-Orangun, Osun State into a family where education was pervasive. She had her elementary and part of her secondary education at Ansar Ur Deen Primary School and Ila Grammar School, Ila Orangun. Thereafter, she proceeded to the School of Science, Ikirun, Osun State for her Senior Secondary Education in 1995.
She got admitted into Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, 1999/2000 Academic Session to study Civil Engineering and subsequently graduated with Second Class Upper Division in 2005. She proceeded to the University of Ibadan for her master’s and doctoral studies and graduated at year 2011 and 2017 respectively.
Dr. Amusan through her education journey demonstrated uniqueness and excellent virtues as the best product in the Department.
Amusan began her professional career as a research scholar and field engineer in 2006. As a registered Civil Engineer, she had handled many construction projects as Project Supervisor, Project Engineer, Resident Engineer, and Consultant from 2006 till date. Dr. Amusan as an erudite scholar and researcher has accumulated over 15 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and research.
She served with Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State between 2008 to 2020, and thereafter transferred her service to the Department of Civil Engineering, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State where she is the current Head of the Department. She has published works in journals locally and internationally.
Amusan has professional expertise in Blast Resistant Design, Structures and Materials Engineering, and Project Management Services.
Beyond the academic and works, she has put her knowledge and Services into the profession through the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) , as well as in the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, (NICE) in several capacities. She was a one-time Financial Secretary (2018 – 2020) and Treasurer (2020 – 2022) of the Nigerian Society of Engineers Abeokuta Branch, and Vice Chairman, of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers Ogun Chapter (2020 – 2022). She is the current General Secretary, of the Nigerian Society of Engineers Abeokuta Branch and now the Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers Ogun Chapter.
She is a fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (FNICE), a vibrant member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), a member of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (MASCE), and Register member of International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems, and Structures (RILEM).
