    Surveyors Boost ICT At Ikosi Senior High School

    The Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS),Lagos State Branch,Surv.Olukolade Kassim has stressed the importance of Information Communication Technology(ICT,) in the development of the education of the students in our secondary schools.

    He stated this in an address he delivered when the executive of the institution and some members donated some ICT equipment to Ikosi Senior High School,as part of its activities to mark the end of the year.

    The Chairman who was represented by the Vice Chairman,Surv.Adedeji Sebiotimo, noted that the donation was part of the institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to selected secondary schools with bias for science.

    According to him, this initiative had been on for quite some time, adding that this was a way of giving back to the society.

    He said that the gesture was also a form of encouraging the students to take Surveying as a course of study when they complete their secondary school education.

    He said that apart from donating 10 sets of computers with installed software to the school, it also upgraded the facilities hitherto met at the school’s computer room by providing 30 chairs and tables, brand new carpet and painting of the room.

    According to him, the money for the execution of the project, was realised from levies imposed on the members, adding that the institution is a nonprofit organisation but which is posed towards helping schools in dire needs.

    He said that every year, members of the executive go to secondary schools to find out what they need in order to show them love by addressing these needs within the set budget for that particular year.

    In his welcome address, the Principal of the school, Mr.Adebua Babafemi Adedeji commended the institution for the kind gesture, pointing out,that it was a very rare moment in the life of the institution.

    According to him, when the executive mooted the idea of donating the computers to the school, he had no choice but to accede to the proposition.

    He said that with the donation,the ICT room would now be a behive of activities, adding that all hands would be on deck to ensure that the computers are well maintained. (independent)
