The Management of Summit University Offa, Kwara State led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Musa Aibinu has paid a courtesy visit to the management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa. He said the visit is for two reasons, to condole with the Polytechnic over the demise of the Registrar who died recently after a protracted illness, and to also seek collaboration with the Polytechnic in the areas of research, skills, and ideas to enhance the academic efficiency of both institutions.

The Vice-Chancellor in his address commended the management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa for its giant strides in Science and Technology, and for upholding the core mandates of technical education. He noted the Polytechnic’s affiliation with the Federal University of Technology, Minna and Federal University, Oye-Ekiti adding that Summit University is equally ready to collaborate with the polytechnic for the growth and development of the two institutions and Nigeria.

According to him, “we are here to seek your support, collaboration and perhaps knowledge for the greatness of our University and also to share with you things we want to do and what we have been doing. We are looking at seven things at the same time, which are: skills, teaching, internationalization, funding and fund generation, research, collaboration, and sustainability.”

The acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi welcomed the management of Summit University and appreciated their visitation which is the first since the University took off.

While speaking on collaborations, Dr. Olarongbe affirmed that the Polytechnic has been on collaboration with different tertiary institutions in Nigeria which has been yielding positive results for the institutions.

He added that the most important thing is that the Polytechnic must start its own collaboration with Summit University.

” We will ask the concerned Directorate to swing into action. We should also be thinking about the exchange of staff, we have competent scholars and authorities who can withstand any academic terrain,” he said.
