Normalcy has been restored at the Axella CNG Gas Station along Lagos Ibadan expressway , following the explosion of a truck laden with gas earlier hour of today Monday 29 August 2022 .

The incident which occurred on Monday, inside Axella CNG created panic but for the quick intervention of Lagos and Ogun State emergency team. Reports says no human casualty was recorded. However other trucks parked at the plant were affected by the fire.

According to eye witness who spoke to MyEngineers correspondence, the Fire service of the Redeem Christian Church was the first responder. My Engineers however established that contrary to the report going round in many news outlets, the incident occurred outside the RCCG compound and not inside redemption city

The chairman of NSE Mowe Branch, Engr. Prince Kole Ayodeji Afolami, and other members of the branch were also on ground to assist the government agency to restore normalcy.

According to the eyewitness from Mowe Branch, the agencies on ground at the time of filing this report are Ogun State fire service Isheri command, redeem fire service, Lagos Fire service reinforce there team, Lagos Emergency Management Response and the NSE Mowe Branch team.

The Mowe Branch team counselled the operators on the need to have professionals in their premises in case of future and other emergency preparedness and also functional fire extinguishers to avert future occurrences.

Speaking on the progress recorded in quelling the fire, the permanent secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said, “The Agency, led by the Permanent Secretary, responded to distress calls and upon arrival discovered an explosion which had subsequently affected adjoining trucks in the compound.

“Further investigation revealed the fire actually started from the battery of one of the trucks before escalating to a gas cylinder resulting in a secondary explosion. No loss of life or injury sustained. The Agency’s LRT is working alongside the Lagos State Fire Service, the Civil Defence, FRSC and Nigeria Police.
