An advocate of internet safety, Mr. Rotimi Onadipe has warned internet users against spending their time online with internet fraudsters at the expense of other productive activities.

Mr. Rotimi Onadipe, chief executive director of Onadipe Technologies and founder of internet safety magazine, gave the warning on Saturday August 27th, 2022 while delivering his organisation’s weekly lecture in Ibadan.

According to Mr. Onadipe, the lecture is aimed at creating global awareness about internet abuse, its dangerous effects and how to stay safe.

He said: “Beware, cyber criminals are ready to spend as much time as possible with you online so as to confuse you and convince you to believe them. Be wise, always use common sense.”

“Some cyber criminals don’t mind to engage you on social media for several hours, weeks, months or years because they believe you will eventually fall victim if they don’t give up on you,” he added.

In his concluding statement, the internet safety advocate said: “Spending your time with a scammer online will do you more harm than good. Chatting with an online scammer for two or three hours will rob you of your precious time and at the end of the day, you won’t have time for other productive activities that can add value to your life.”
