The Abeokuta Branch of Nigerian Society of Engineers,( NSE) has elected new Branch Executive Committee members with Engr. Ismail Adetunji Adenuga emerging as the new chairman.. The election held on Thursday 28th July, 2022 during the Branch’s Annual General Meeting in Abeokuta. Adenuga will be succeeding Engr Kolawole Olonade, who have successfully completed his term
Other executive members. Engr. Olumayowa A. Idowu emerged as the Vice Chairman, Engr. Dr. Mrs. Grace M. Amusan as the General Secretary, Engr. Opeoluwa Ajayi as the Assistant General Secretary. Election Chairman, Engr Abiodun Lawal also announced other elected officers as; Engr. Abolaji Ilori ( Technical Secretary), Engr. Tolulope Erinoso (Assistant Technical Secretary), Engr. Ismail Adeyemi (Treasurer), Engr. Olanike Ogunbona (Financial Secretary), Engr Gbenga Osungboye (Publicity Secretary), Engr. Mrs. Toyin Ajisebutu (Assistant Publicity Secretary). Others are; Engr. Segun Ogunnoiki as the Internal Auditor, Engr. Dr. Adekunle Musa as the Ex – Officio.
During the Annual General Meeting, many far-reaching decisions were made. Members commended the outgoing Chairman Engr. Dr. Kolawole Olonade, and his team who served the branch and the society meritoriously.
Engr. Adenuga Ismail Adetunji holds Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and M.Sc in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from the University of Lagos. Before being elected as chairman, he has served the Branch in many capacities up to Vice Chairman level.
He started his working carrier with Robert Resources Limited as a Site Engineer and was involved in many projects. He later joined the service of Ogun State Civil Service as a Civil Engineer II and rose to his current position as the Director of flood and Erosion Control of Ogun State Ministry of Environment. He is also the Acting Ogun State Project Coordinator of Nigerian Erosion and Watershed Management Project.
Abeokuta, the birth place of the Nigerian Society of Engineers more than 60 years ago has produced many great engineers. The City Officially got a Branch of NSE in 1978 after the creation of Ogun State. Conceived by notable engineers among whom were Engrs: V.O.A. Ajayi, S.A. Egberongbe, the branch was inaugurated at Centenary Hall Ake. Twenty seven (27) engineers graced the occasion, they include Engrs: Ajayi, Opelami, Egberongbe, Kehinde, Adenekan, Bankole, Ojelade, Ademefun, Solanke, Lawale amongst others.
Since then Abeokuta Branch has been a force to be reckoned in the comity of branches. She is noted for her vibrant, energetic, vivacious and active participation in both local and national programmes.

Lawal MNSE (2013 – 2016), Engr. M. I. Abbass FNSE (2016 – 2018), Engr. Dr. O. A. Apampa FNSE (2017 – 2020) and Engr Dr. Kolawole Olonade (2020-2022).
