    NISafetyE Lagos set to inaugurate Kayode Fowode as Second Chairman; Government Roles in Safety Regulations takes centre stage

    On the 31st March 2022, Engineers and stakeholders in Safety industry will converge on Victoria Island to celebrate with the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers, Lagos State chapter, as it inaugurates 2nd Chairman, Engr. Kayode Valentine Fowode. The event will hold at Havilah Event Centre on Plot 6, Chief Yesufu Abiodun Oniru Street, Victoria island Lagos and will commence at 10am.

    it will be the second leadership transition at the Chapter following the successful completion of tenure of the first chairman, Engr Seun Faluyi who is now the institution’s Deputy National Chairman.

    The Director General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Capt Musa Shuabu Nuhu will deliver keynote address on the “Safety procedure and Standards: Role of Government in Safety Regulation”

    Some of the excepted dignitaries at the event which will be chaired by the National Chairman Engr. Akaninyene Edet Ekong, are: HRH Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal,Abisogun 11, the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, Mr. Lanre Majola, Director General, Lagos State Safety Commsion; Hon. Kalejaiye, Adeboye Paul, former Special Adviser to Governor of Lagos State and host of others.

    NISafetyE is one of the of specialized independent Divisions of Nigerian Society of Engineers. It was founded and approved on 11th February 2016. The Institution was Founded with mission to promote Safety through good engineering design, construction, fabrication, installation, training, operations, maintenance and engineering procedures and practices as well as work place culture which will result in the safety of personnel, the environment , facilities and infrastructure that contribute to loss prevention and sustainable national development.

    Engr. Kayode V. Fowode MNSE, FNISafetyE, CFIOSH,

    Kayode Fowode is the Managing Director of Kevron Consulting Limited, a company based in Nigeria with specializing in QHSSE Training and Consultancy Services. He is a Chartered Fellow of IOSH; a Fellow of Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers, and a COREN Registered Mechanical Engineer.

    Kayode pioneered the establishment of IOSH Nigeria Network Group and in 2018, he became the first African to be appointed into the IOSH Council and first African to be appointed as IOSH Vice President in 2019. He has extensive knowledge and experience in management system implementation, process and construction safety management, project safety management, safety leadership, training, research and publications.

    Kayode holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) and Masters of Science in Occupational Safety and Health from Middlesex University, London and has worked for G4s Secure Solutions-UK, Turner & Townsend Plc-UK, Middlesex University, London, Vascroft Contractors, UK and Jagal Group including working across Africa and UK. Kayode has won several local and international awards including the Middlesex University Leadership, Enterprise and Citizenship Award, the 2016 JCI Top Ten Outstanding Young Person Award in Nigeria and IOSH President’s Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of Occupational Safety and Health. Kayode has active interest in writing articles on diverse OSH issues, speaking at conferences and mentoring young OSH professionals towards achieving the prestigious Chartered membership of IOSH.

    He is an appointed member of the Advisory Board for the Association of Nigerian Women Safety Professionals and presently the Chairman of the Technical Publicity Committee and National Technical Secretary of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (FNISafetyE).

    Kayode represented KEVRON at the recently concluded Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Consultative forum for the review of the Nigerian Electricity Health and Safety Code. He is a registered Consultant with Lagos State Safety Commission and a Visiting Lecturer / Researcher at The Center for Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (COHSE), University of Port Harcourt.

    Kayode is happily married to Adesuwa and blessed with a daughter, Michelle.
