The Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE has announced a date for its Extra-Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) to fill the vacant position of the Vice President (South West). This was contained in a memo released by the Ag. Executive Secretary of the Society, Mr. Abdulkadir Aliyu.
The date as announced is on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 10, am and it will be Virtual meeting. The Notice followed the Council Approval after due consideration of the election panel which recommended the rerun of the election for the office of the Vice President, South West during the last Annual General meeting in Abuja, 2022.
According to Mr. Aliyu, “Agenda for the meeting is for the purpose of conducting a bye-election for the Vice President, South-West Zone as directed by the Annual General Meeting of December 9, 2021.”
Further, Aliyu said that, “Only financially up to date members will be sent link to participate in the proceedings while One thousand (1,000) members is expected to form the quorum for the EGM as provided in the Memorandum and Articles of Association (Revised
2021)” It further noted that the outcome of the EGM shall be binding on all members.
It will be recalled that the last Annual General Meeting of the Association had some challenges due to irregularities where some members email were compromised. the election affected the final outcome of the South West Vice president slot where margin of victory was deem too small to declare victory. This led to the recommendation for rerun of that particular position.
