History in Review: Asejire Dam built by Nigerian Engineers commissioned in 1972!

6 of the engineers attended Government College Ibadan led by Engr Adebayo Andu

Exactly Forty nine years to the hour, history was made in Western Nigeria when the largest and most ambitious water supply project was officially flagged off by the then Head of State, His Excellency, General Yakubu Gowon GCON (Rtd). The project- Asijere Dam, an engineering feat of that period estimated at approximately £11m was delivered on sheldue under the direct supervision of Western Nigeria Water Corporation, headed by Late Engr Jibril Adebayo Andu, Nigeria’s first water and hydroholic engineer.

The project was coordinated by the very best crop of Nigerian Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineers, operating from the 10th to 13th floor of Cocoa House in Ibadan.
