As part of the efforts to accelerate the Federal Government gas policy, through both creating awareness and training new set of technicians to drive the policy, a team of private sector experts Messrs AVM Energy Services limited and Autolady Engineering services limited and their Turkish technical associates are partnering Ministry of petroleum Resources, National Automotive Design and Development Council and other federal government agencies to flag off the first National Autogas Training and Certification programme in Abuja. The Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, will be on hand during the ceremony.
The event which is supported by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum and the National Automotive Development Council will hold on 9th November 2021 at the Nigerian Society of Engineers Auditorium, National Engineering Centre, CBD, Abuja by 10 am. The theme of the event is “Critical Roles of Auto-mechanics in Autogas vehicle conversion in Nigeria.”
The keynote speaker at the event is the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, Mr Jelani Aliyu, MFR. Other dignitaries expected to grace the event are Engr Abdullah A. Sule, Executive Governor of Nasarawa, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Executive Governor of Kogi State and Sen. James Manager, Senate Committee Chairman on Gas and the Chairperson Nigeria Women for Gas and Green Initiative, NW4GGi, Hajiya Maryam Salihu Ibrahim who are also key stakeholders in this project and the Nigeria gas values chain
Also expected are the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigerian, COREN President, Engr Ali Rabiu who is the special Guest; and Dr Wahaab Abdullah, President EuroLPG Group, Netherlands and a host of others.
The highlight of the event being put together by the Autolady Engineering Technology and AVM Energy Service Limited include: Flagging off Autogas Train-D-Trainer Scheme, induction of Auto mechanics, and Commissioning of Autogas technology and Development Centre,
It will be recalled that the FG has recently launched its Gas policy with the target to convert million cars to run on gas by the end of 2021. The exercise was a part of efforts to stimulate national economic growth and create million jobs while also promoting migration to gas-powered vehicles. The policy also aims to reduce carbon emissions in Nigeria.
To achieve this goal, there exist a need to build the capacity of practitioners and also train experts in Autogas vehicle conversion, maintenance and management. This lead to the establishment of the Autogas Technician Training and certification project with participants drawn across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
