Electrical Engineers set for Annual Lecture as fashola Confirms attendance

The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE) is set for its 15th Distinguished Annul Annual Lecture, DEEEAL holding in Abuja.

According to the Executive of NIEEE, Engr. Simeon Isibor in a statement in Abuja said that the specialised lecture, tagged Distinguished Electrical and Electronic Engineer Annual Lecture (DEEEAL) would come up on November 8, 2021.

“The DEEEAL confers the distinct honour on the recipient of presenting a well researched, topical and nationalistic lecture before an audience comprising of the top echelon of Engineers, Managers, Captains of Industries and Executives from various sectors of the economy, including the government.

“The speaker, who is considered an expert in his field, is provided with a platform by the institute to share his ideas to a wider audience comprising professional colleagues, captains of industry and key decision makers in the government and academia.

“This year, the responsibility of presenting the 2021 DEEEAL lecture falls on Engr Ifeoluwa Oyedele, an engineer, who is the executive director (Networks) of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

“The DEEEAL is considered as the pinnacle of achievement by an Electrical Electronic Engineer and Oyedele would be joining a select group of past lecturers having exceeded all criteria used in the selection process.

“Oyedele is expected to X-Ray the NESI in a lecture entitled: “Electrification of Nigeria is a Sine Qua Non to Building a Great Industrialised and Safe Nation,” he said.

“The lecture, which is scheduled to hold on Nov. 8 in Abuja, is expected to be preceded by the conferment of the Institute’s Fellowship on Oyedele,” he said.

In a related development, the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, will be the special guest of honour at its 15th annual Lecture. This was confirmed by the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Distinguished Electrical and Electronics Engineer Annual Lecture (DEEEAL), Engr. Richard Adenekan,

Adenekan, said that: “That the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry has faced challenges over time is no news. How those challenges have been met for the over 100 years of electricity in Nigeria is expected to form an important part of the 15th DEEEAL this year.

PROFILE OF THE SPEAKER, ENGR. IFEOLUWA OYEDELE

Engr. IfeOluwa Oyedele, Executive Director (Networks), Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited.

IfeOluwa’s career spans engineering management, manufacturing, construction, venturing, governance and engineering consulting from 1982 till date, Oyedele has worked in both the public and private sectors. He started his career with DAFEC Consultants as an engineer whose responsibility was to design and prepare tenders for rural electrification projects as well as supervising and monitoring the implementation of the projects. He proceeded to Oyo State Ministry of Works and Transport where he served for two years with similar responsibilities as his previous job. He headed the sales department of Dynapower Nigeria Limited for the next two years after which he consulted for Edison Group and Partners where he designed electrical engineering projects and services per clients’ briefs and terms and also supervised project executions.

Engr. Oyedele’s innovative and leadership skills later saw him serve in a number of executive capacities in some bluechip companies carrying out cutting edge businesses in Nigeria between 1987 and 1991. As Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer, Oyedele set the companies business and strategic agenda, negotiated contracts and ensured quality and standard of jobs are maintained.

Until his appointment with Niger Delta Power Holding Company on September 1, 2016, Oyedele was the Managing Director of Matcom Limited. A very successful construction company he set up and run since 1992. He has also been actively involved as a political organiser and canvasser, exclusively for parties and candidates that shares his sentiments and visions for Nigeria

Engr. IfeOluwa Oyedele is successful entrepreneur, a fearless yet sound politician, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, Electrical Engineering from the University of Lagos in 1982. He is a member, Nigerian Society of Engineers and Institute of Directors. He is married and blessed with children.
