Meet the 9th APWEN Lagos Chairman, Engr Alagbe Monsura

On 15 September, 2021, Engr Monsura Alagbe was elected in as 9th Chairman of Association of professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, APWEN, Lagos State chapter.

During her acceptance speech, Alagbe promised to carry on with the progress of the Chapter along with the newly elected executive members. She praised the supports of elders, members and stakeholders and solicited their support to raise the bar even higher.

She challenged women engineers to raise u to the challenge of tackling unemployment in the country. . She urged members apply to their individual lives, environment, and businesses and harness all the available resources at their disposal to abate the causes and bring down the rate of unemployment in our dear nation, Nigeria.

PROFILE OF ENGR. MRS. MONSURAH ABIMBOLA ALAGBE, R.COREN, MNSE, MNICE, MNIStructE, MAPWEN, MASCE, MSWE

Monsurah Abimbola Alagbe is a Civil Servant with Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in the Inspectorate and Quality Control Department of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA. She is a highly motivated, dependable and adaptable Civil Engineer with a background in Structural Engineering. Abimbola was with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc; for nineteen years (1998 – 2017) within which she was involved in various areas of Civil Engineering works like Geotechnical, Job Bidding/Tendering, Building/Construction, Quantity Analysis/Estimation, QA/QC and Procurement.

Engr. Monsurah had her Bachelor degree (BTech.) in Civil Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and proceeded further in the same field for a Master Degree (MSc) with bias in Structures from the prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka.

She possesses excellent problem solving and analytical skills, takes ownership for continual self-development and motivates teammates to achieve set objectives whilst maintaining quality and professionalism.

Abimbola has always been eager to boost her professional career in any available opportunity within her capacity, the reason for her trainings in some professional courses like Facilities Management, Design and Construction Enhancement Trainings (AutoCAD, Revit, RCD, Orion, Microsoft Project, EDGE), PMP (Project Management Professional), many Humanitarian and Safety Courses.

She is happily married and blessed with children.
