NUESA UNIABUJA honours Margaret Oguntala; Wants COREN to adopt NBA/NMA model for Engineering graduates

The Nigerian Universities Engineering students Association (NUESA) is an umbrella body of all Engineering students in Nigeria and also the student’s wing of the Nigerian society of Engineers (NSE) has honoured a council member of COREN, Engr Margaret Oguntala

The core mandate of the Association among others is to ensure the overall welfare as well as foster capacity building within her members.

NUESA UNIABUJA under the leadership of Comrade Abdulateef Edicha has been a leading figure in all of this using the instrumentality of collaboration and resourcefulness.

The leading personality behind the resounding successes of NUESA UNIABUJA over the years has been no one else but Engr Mrs Margaret Oguntala through her relentless mentorship, capacity-building initiatives and guidance.

This reason account for why the Engineering students in the last regular Congress unanimously agreed to name this year’s annual dinner and award night after the woman we refer to as the mother of modern Engineering in Nigeria.

The annual NUESA dinner and award night is usually a day to celebrate the graduating young Engineers and other dignitaries that have distinguished themselves across various spheres of life.

This year’s dinner held on the 4th of June 2021 at the popular Evelyn Garden and events center was specially in honour of Engr Margaret Oguntala to celebrate her relentless efforts in shaping the future of young Engineers, Engineering profession in Nigeria and nation-building.

Representing her at the event was Engr Mrs Linda Bitrus (Chairman, Association of Environmental Engineers, Abuja chapter.

Engr Linda, while speaking on behalf of Engr Oguntala, advised the graduating Students be good ambassadors of their families and the prestigious Engineering profession. She stressed that Engineering is hinged on innovation and creativity and encouraged graduating Students to venture into various technical knowledge in addition to their degree so as to help shape the future and guarantee self sufficiency and reliance.

Dr Kari He advised the Engineering Students , especially the graduating ones to sustain the good moral standard exhibited on campus throughout the stay on campus.
Also to remain good ambassadors of the prestigious UoFA through integrity and productivity and also serve as agents in unifying and building Nigeria.

Earlier in his address, The president of the Association, comrade Abdulateef Edicha begin his speech by thanking very Student and staff of the faculty for their support, love and confidence repose in him throughout his tenure.
He specifically thank Engr Margret Oguntala for mentoring him towards leadership and academic excellence.

NUESA UNIABUJA honours Margaret Oguntala; Wants COREN to adopt NBA/NMA model for Engineering graduatesHe personally advocated the need for COREN to review it’s current law where Engineering graduates will have to wait after four years upon graduating before been formally inducted as practicing Engineers, as this account for reasons why the profession looses some of her graduates into other professions and menial jobs.
He suggested that COREN could adopt the practice of NBA and NMA where their graduates are inducted upon their graduation from classrooms.

also advised my fellow students to venture into skills that will shape and transform their future as well as guarantee legitimate continuous self sufficiency and to also maintain their integrity at all times irrespective of the economic development.
