The Nigerian Institute of electrical Electronics Engineers, Abeokuta Chapter under the leadership of Engr Olumayowa Idowu is set to mark the 91st birthday anniversary of a former President of Nigerian Society of Engineers, Pa. Phillip Bolude Oyebolu, a Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers and Nigerian Academy of Engineering.
The event will also serve as Inaugural edition of Annual Lecture series to celebrate his achievements and contributions to electrical engineering and Engineering in general.
The 1st Bolude Oyebolu Electrical and Electronic Engineering Lecture/91st Birthday Celebration is scheduled to hold on June 16, 2021 at Bolude Oyebolu Engineering Centre, (NSE Secretariat) Abeokuta, 10am prompt. The Deputy President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr Tasiu Salad Gidari -Wudil will be presenting on “Electricity Metering in Nigeria: Myth and Reality.”
Other dignitaries expected at the event which will be chaired by the National Chairman of the Institute, Engr Adeyemi Kings will also have in attendance, President of Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr Babagana Mohammed, COREN president, Engr Ali Rabiu, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Deputy Governor of Ogun state and host of others.

ENGR. (REV.) Phillip. B. OYEBOLU
Born on the 16th June, 1930, Rev. Engr. Phillip Bolude Oyebolu attended Government College, Ibadan before proceeding to the University of Edinburgh where he obtained B.Sc. Electrical Engineering in 1958. After graduating, he had his 2 years apprenticeship training with Marconi at Chelmsford and later worked with the company for another two years before returning to Nigeria in 1961.
On returning to Nigeria, he joined the then Department of Post and Telecommunications as an Engineer where he rose to the position of Senior Engineer in 1965 before moving over to the professional products Division of Phillips Nigeria Limited later that year. In this position, he was exposed to various training courses on the different products of the company. In 1975, Engr. Oyebolu left Phillips to form his own Consulting Company – Messrs Molecular Consultants where he was the Principal Consultant and Associates; a firm of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Services. He retired from the firm in 1990.
Engineer Oyebolu is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institution of Electrical Engineers (U.K.) and Nigerian Association of Health Engineering. He was one time President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Vice-President of COREN. He is now a reverend gentleman and has served as Vicar of St. Batholomew Anglican Church, Surulere, Anglican Church of Pentecost, Festac Town, Lagos, and Anglican Church of the Ascension. He is presently Vicar of St. Judes Anglican Church, Magodo, Lagos. Engineer Oyebolu is a foundation Fellow of the Academy.
