Engr Mokuolu Delivering his address

The immediate past national president of The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Adekunle Mokuolu, has urged governments at all levels to make use of engineering human resources that are being wasted away to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty as promised by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mokuolu made this statement recently while delivering a lecture entitled: “Quality Engineering Education And Practice For Sustainable Development And National Security” to commemorate this year’s World Engineering Day organised by the Lagos Branch of NSE at the University of Akoka, Lagos.

The deliberations focused on the fact that the planet (Earth) needs engineering knowledge make it a better place.

“Engineering is the pillar in which the world could thrive on because our activities should support the planet. We would not experience what is called national disaster like earthquake if engineering technology is put into use,” he said.

Mokuolu added: “Engineering innovations create wealth through design of cars and phones. So replicate one innovation and the country would thrive, but in a country where things are not knowledge-driven, where we are just traders and consumers, we make money from trading and we use it to buy foreign goods to consume.”
