The Youths Matron Of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area Of Lagos, Engr. Atinuke Wuraola Owolabi has advised Professionals across board to join a political party to contribute to national development.
She made this appeal during a door-door, street-street, unit-unit canvassing for new membership registration for the ongoing membership revalidation exercise of All Progressives People Party, APC.
Talking about the revaliation exercice of APC, she said “the essence of the canvassing is to increase the number of new members into the All Progressives Congress (APC) party fold.”
At the APC registration centres, some of the information gathered on the field were complaints from the registration officers of having exhausted their registration booklets and they appealed for more registration booklets to enhance the registration exercise.
The team visited Ward E, Ward F and Ward D while other wards will be visited next week.
As part of the exercise, the team also flagged off in Ward E with the mathematical Prince Akin Aderinoye (Caretaker Chairman, APC FKJ, Ward E) in attendance while the Reg. Supervisor for Ward E, Mr. Yomi Ajasa caught up with us while on his supervising duty.
They met with the hardworking Counsellor of Ward F, Hon. Victor Onifade in his unit, He was happy to receive the team and appreciated the donation of the APC banners to his unit: 008 in Ogundimu Primary School. He promised to replicate the same strategy in his Ward (F) for the house to house canvassing.
The team also met an APC FKJ LG Officer Mr. Shakiru Bababunmi (Shabund) while visiting Ward D PU:007 @ NRC.
Engr. Owolabi believes that as some people are somewhat not interested in party politics especially with the vexation over the security challenges in the country coupled with hardship in the land. He insisted that political participation is still the best way porfessionals can play their part in the syste,.
“We can still share some good news and stories by being friendly in our canvassing approach and let people know why they have to take part in political decision making especially in their local environment which mostly and directly affect their lives.” The said.
“Our people must not sit on the fence while critical decisions are being made behind their backs, they must stop complaining and be a part of the political decisions that will determine a brighter future or otherwise if the refuse to Get Involved.” She added
Talking on the Local Government. She said that “Ifako-Ijaiye can lead all other local governments in terms of new membership drive in Nigeria if every Youths, women and all stakeholders will decide to roll up their sleeves, put on their jeans and canvasses and hit the streets to engage in the new membership drive. Our target is that Ifako-Ijaiye can register a minimum of 7,000 members per ward and a total of 49,000 within the Local Government. This is achievable only if, all hands rest on deck.”
The Matron appeal to every youths, women and those still physically fit to hit the streets next week in continuation of the new membership/revalidation drive.
