The Founder of Ahmed Ayinla Foundation; a Sport Lover, Co-Founder of Jil Promoter, Proprietor of Amina Ajibike Memorial Group of Schools, and a Peace Scholar, Dr. Ahmed Ayinla Jimoh pays tribute to Rashidi Yekini on the 8th remembrance anniversary of the Legend by presenting Cash, Palliative food stuffs, Cloth and protective equipments to the Mother of a star of the round leather game.
The presentation was made at her Ijagbo residence, Oyun LGA of Kwara State by the Chairman of the Foundation with other members.
Dr. Jimoh described Late Yekini as one of the country’s most beloved footballer who embodied a true reflection of a Nigerian Player.
He called on the Kwara State Government under the able leadership of Governor Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman to immortalize Rashidi Yekini by naming the Kwara State Stadium after him, as a reward for his noble service to his dear Country, referencing Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos and Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba as sample. The government is also implored to from time see to the welfare of the aged mother and the dependants because the death of the star footballer who doubled as the bread winner to the family must have created very serious gaps which must be filled by all and sundry.
He also called on football stakeholders in the Country to always give back to the family of the Late Rashidi Yekini, most importantly, the aged Mother.
He recanted that the Late Rashidi Yekini was Nigeria’s top goalscorer with 37 goals from 58 appearances before he died from a brief illness at age 48 on May 4, 2012. Yekini scored the Country’s first ever FIFA World Cup goal at the USA-94 during a 3-0 group stage triumph over Bulgaria.
The Foundation prayed to Almighty to continue to be pleased with the gentle soul of Rashidi Yekini and grant him Aljanat Firdaos.
