A rising inventor, Mr. Luka Zang Bot has produced face shields for free distribution to front line health workers fighting coronavirus.

Face Shield is a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that keeps spray and splatter of fluids that may contain virus from reaching the mouth, eyes and nose.

Most health workers, Zang said wear nose masks while attending to patients, leaving their eyes exposed.

This exposes them to invincible bacteria and viruses like coronavirus that can penetrate the body through such openings, he said.

The locally made shields, Zang believes would remedy the global shortage of personal protective equipment and further slow the spread of the deadly Coronavirus disease.

“Zang Face Shield” as he labels it will be mass-produced and distributed to health workers and members of the public in Nigeria.

Zang, a Jos based highschool graduate began scientific innovations as a child, from personal observations and research, despite being a social science student.

His first invention of a power bank and computer foot mouse made from electronic waste earned him a Presidential award in August 2019.

He has made other discoveries – sand sieving machine and automatic candle quencher but has yet to release them.
