NIMechE Pays Courtesy Visit to Lafarge, sets up a committee on technical Collaboration

On the 6th February 2020, the Exco and members of Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers Lagos chapter division of Nigerian Society of Engineers, led by its chairman Engr Dr. Uche Obiajulu paid a Technical and courtesy visit to the Lafarge Africa Plc plant in Ewekoro, Ogun State.

The tour started with a welcome remark by the Plant manager who assured the engineers of Lafarge cooperation with NIMechE Lagos Chapter and promised to ensure the company’s mechanical Engineers register with the institution. He also promised to participate more in the activities of the institution.

He narrated the challenges of the company especially the bad condition of the Sango Ewekoro road which he said cost the company a fortune to offer palliative measures to remedy it. The maintenance manager lend his support to a closer relationship with the institution.

Lafarge representatives in the NIMechE Lagos Chapter Executive committee Engr Badejo promised to do more work towards making the relationship between the two stronger than it has been.

NIMechE Lagos Chapter Chairman Engr Dr Uche Obiajulu thanked Lafarge for hosting the engineers and announced the institution’s desire to support the company on the area of training and professional development, Class G cement production and market research.

Engr Adeyeye Segun, NIMechE Publicity Sec , Engr Olaoye, Technical Sec and Engr. Femi Bola-Oluwaniyi, General Secretary were nominated by the Chapter Chairman to represent the chapter in the Collaboration Committee while Lafarge nominated Engr Badejo et al.

The tour involved plant tour of the factory and production facilities. The tour ended with a group photograph of the Lafarge management and the visiting NIMechE Engineers.

It will be recalled that the administration of Dr Uche Obiajulu have placed emphasis on research and collaboration as part of its determination to forge stronger ties between NIMechE and the industry and also contribute to National development
