NSE CONFERS FELLOWSHIP AWARD ON SSG

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr.Emmanuel Ekuwem was yesterday conferred with the prestigious Fellowship Award by the Board of Fellows of the Nigerian Society of Engineers(NSE).

The conferment which was performed by the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers,Engr.Adekunle Mokuolu,FNSE took place at the Conference room of EMMJM Hotel in Uyo.

Engr.Mokuolu noted that the award on Dr. Ekuwem was well deserved, adding that his nomination for the award was in recognition of his enormous contributions to the growth of the engineering profession in Nigeria.

The NSE President who described Dr.Ekuwem as a body of Knowledge,said as an assets to the engineering profession, several persons within and outside the shores of Nigeria have benefited from his wealth of Knowledge and ideas

Engr. Mukuolu also described the awardee as an album of inspiration and enjoined Akwa Ibom People in particular and Nigerians in general to celebrate Dr. Ekuwem and as well draw a lot of inspiration from him in view of the indispensable role he has played in the advancement of the Engineering profession.

He expressed appreciation to the Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr.Uduak Essien and entire members of the branch for their courage in ensuring that the investiture, in the midst of several challenges, was not only successful but a reality.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigerian society of Engineers (NSE), Ikot Ekpene Branch, Engr.Uduak Essien in his welcome remarks, said the event was organized to give honour to whom honour was long overdue.

Engr. Essien who acknowledged the contributions of the awardee to the development of the Engineering profession in Nigeria, remarked that Dr. Ekuwem did not only contribute to the establishment and inauguration of Ikot Ekpene Branch, but also one of the prime financiers of the branch.
While lauding the conferee for sponsoring many Engineers to attend several workshops, seminars and conferences within and outside Nigeria,the Ikot Ekpene Branch Chairman thanked the President and the Council members for finding Dr .Ekuwem worthy of the honour.

Responding, the awardee, Dr.Emmanuel Ekuwem said he was delighted by the honour done him,noting that the gesture will spur him to do more for the Engineering body and humanity for the development of the society.

Dr.Ekuwem attributed his success in life to God and advised anyone wishing to progress in life to look up to God as the foundation of everything we need in this life.

The State Chief Scribe lauded the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for the landmark achievements recorded in the State,noting with delight that he was happy to be part of the success story of the current Administration in the State.

Dr.Ekuwem expressed gratitude to the President of the Nigerian society of Engineers and his Council members as well as the Chairman and members of NSE ,Ikot Ekpene Branch for the honour done him and prayed God to reward them bountifully. High point of the event was the decoration of Dr.Emmanuel Ekuwem with the Fellowship paraphernalia.

The investiture was graced by the Vice President of NSE, Engr.Joseph Akinteye, representative of the Chairman of the Board of Fellows, Engr. Ezekwesili Onah, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Power, Engr. Meyen Etukudo and the immediate past Chairman of NSE,Uyo Branch, Engr. Mfon Udoikpong.

Others are the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Imo Inyang,other Management and Staff of the SSG’s Office, members of the Nigerian society of Engineers (NSE), Ikot Ekpene Branch as well as family members, friends and associates of the awardee.

  1. Much as this conferment is well-deserved, it is not only monetary contribution that deserves such recognition.
    Ideas and realisations should deserve more of such recognitions!
